Israeli Finance Minister Betzalel Smotrich firmly reaffirmed his stance against the creation of a state commission of inquiry to investigate the October 7 Hamas attack, expressing his lack of confidence in Israel’s justice system.
He made it clear that he did not trust the system, stating, “I don’t have a shred of trust in the Israeli justice system which has completely lost its judgment.”
He pointed to the ongoing investigation into the leak scandal connected to the prime minister’s office, calling it a prime example of why the system could not be relied upon.
Smotrich explained that he was not willing to entrust this significant matter to a system in which he had no faith. “I am not prepared to abandon this important task to a system I have no faith in,” he said. Instead, he expressed support for an alternative approach, advocating for “an independent investigative committee that will turn over every stone.”
