The letter reads as follows:
Congress of the United StatesHouse of RepresentativesWashington, DC 20515-6501
February 14, 2025
Grand Rabbi David TwerskyNew Square, New York
Dear Grand Rabbi Twersky,
Mazal Tov on the joyous celebration of yet another grandchild’s wedding! This is a blessed moment in the history of your family, and I rejoice with you as you celebrate this sacred union.
The Torah teaches us to “Be fruitful and multiply,” and through this marriage, it is evident that you have faithfully embraced and fulfilled this divine commandment. The marriage of two souls represents a beautiful mitzvah, and it evokes the words of Psalms: “The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.”
I pray that this new couple is blessed with joy, companionship, and eternal love.
I want to thank you for the invitation to attend this beautiful ceremony and send my regrets that I am unable to attend. I hope to join you at your magnificent new synagogue soon.
Sincerely,Mike JohnsonSpeaker of the House
As mentioned in his message, Speaker Johnson expressed his gratitude for the invitation to the wedding but regretted that he could not attend. He concluded his letter by expressing his eagerness to visit the new bais medrash in Skver in the near future.
