President Donald Trump confirmed that his first overseas trip would be to Saudi Arabia and indicated that he was also considering visiting Qatar and the United Arab Emirates during the same tour.
While speaking to reporters in the Oval Office after signing a series of executive orders, Trump did not reference Israel but mentioned that his travel plans in the Middle East might include “a couple of other countries.”
When asked if the visit would happen in May, as previously speculated, Trump replied, “It could be next month, maybe a little bit later.”
Trump explained that his choice to prioritize Saudi Arabia for his debut international visit was influenced by the kingdom’s commitment to invest close to $1 trillion in American businesses.
