President Donald Trump showed Fox News host Laura Ingraham his all-important “Coke button” during a tour of the Oval Office. After Ingraham asked to see the button—which apparently summons a butler to bring the president chilled Diet Coke on demand—Trump pointed her toward the Resolute Desk.
“It’s right here,” he said. “Everyone thinks that’s a nuclear weapon. They say if I press this, it’s the end of the world,” he continued, then pressed a small red button in a wooden box in front of one of his two phones. “And it doesn’t seem to work out that way.”
Trump’s Diet Coke dependency is well documented—and his Coke button has been a source of fascination since his first term in office. Anytime he sits at his desk, the button is within arm’s reach.
In January, Coca-Cola’s CEO James Quincey gifted the president a commemorative inaugural Diet Coke bottle with an image of the White House and the phrase “The Inauguration of President of the United State Donald J. Trump.”
