President Donald Trump is set to sign an executive order today designed to dismantle the Department of Education, keeping a major promise he made during his campaign, according to a fact sheet released by the White House.
The directive instructs Education Secretary Linda McMahon to “take all necessary steps to facilitate the closure (of) the Department of Education and return education authority to the States, while continuing to ensure the effective and uninterrupted delivery of services, programs, and benefits on which Americans rely.”
Additionally, the order stipulates that any programs or activities that continue to receive funds from the Department of Education must not “advance DEI or gender ideology.”
