President-elect Donald Trump has stated that the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas must be completed prior to his inauguration on Monday, emphasizing the critical role he played in the negotiation process.
“We changed the course of it, and we changed it fast, and frankly, it better be done before I take the oath of office,” Trump remarked during a podcast conversation with Dan Bongino.
He further asserted that “we shook hands, and we signed certain documents, but it better be done.” According to reports, the ceasefire is slated to commence on Sunday.
Trump criticized President Joe Biden for his lack of involvement in achieving the agreement.
“I’m not looking for credit. I want to get these people out,” he stated. “We’ve got to get them out.”
Drawing a historical parallel, Trump compared the current situation to the Iran hostage crisis, which concluded shortly after President Ronald Reagan took office, succeeding Jimmy Carter.
“For three years they’ve lived like in hell,” Trump said, referring to the hostages who have been held captive for 470 days. “We gotta get them out, and it’ll be great when we do.”
