The IDF has announced it’s fighter jets have eliminated the chief of Hezbollah’s drone unit, Muhammad Hossein Sarur, in precise strikes in the Lebanese capital of Beirut on Thursday.
Army radio is reporting that the attack struck a specific floor of a multi-story building in Dhieh, a Hezbollah stronghold in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
Al Mayadeen, a Hezbollah linked news outlet, reported that four people were killed in the strike, and more wounded.
Additional reports from Lebanon indicate three missiles struck the building.
Per the IDF, Sarur had overseen many drone and missile attacks on Israel. Additionally, he had been the leader of Hezbollah’s drone production, creating manufacturing sites, including inside civilian areas in Beirut and other cities.
Following the Beirut strike, Hezbollah said the IDF also struck targets in the areas of Aita al-Jabal, Toul, Shahour, Houmin al-Fawqa, Mahrouna, Qana, Ainatha, Al-Tayri, the Ansariya-Adloun area, Taybeh, Armata, Majdal Silm, Al-Jumaijma, the Jabal al-Rayhan Heights, Mashghara, and Shaqra.
Rocket sirens were sounded across the upper Galil, including in Tzfas, following the announcement. Magen David Adom has not reported any injuries from these rocket attacks.
Additionally on Thursday, the IDF announced it was moving tanks from the south to the northern front, and that the 7th bBrigade completed their training exercise preparing for a possible ground invasion of Lebanon.
