The US State Department has announced that it is offering rewards of up to several million dollars for information about the financial networks of the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen and the Hezbollah terror group in Lebanon.
In a statement released on Monday, the State Department urged anyone with knowledge of individuals or groups funding the Houthis or their financial connections to report it. The department provided several communication platforms, including Signal, Telegram, WhatsApp, and a Tor-based tip line. It emphasized that informants could be eligible for rewards as high as $15 million, along with potential relocation assistance.
The department clarified the threat posed by the Houthis, stating, “Ansarallah (Houthis) has launched multiple attacks against commercial vessels in the Red Sea, killing civilians and forcing rerouting of maritime traffic. These Iranian-trained and armed terrorists have also attempted hijackings and launched shore-to-ship missiles against vessels from the US and allied countries.”
Additionally, the State Department issued another statement about Hezbollah’s funding activities. “Hezbollah funds its terrorism through various illicit activities, including the use of commercial and other civilian aircraft to smuggle cash.” The department announced a reward of up to $10 million for information regarding Hezbollah’s operations, specifically targeting airport employees, customs officers, or aviation officials involved in cash smuggling or related illegal activities.
Last week, the department also offered up to $10 million for information about key individuals associated with Kimia Part Sivan Company (KIPAS), the drone manufacturing branch of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force.
The United States launched a significant operation against the Houthis last weekend, conducting multiple airstrikes on various targets. This operation comes in response to the Houthis’ persistent attacks on US and international ships passing through the waters near Yemen, which have been ongoing since the beginning of Israel’s conflict with Gaza.
Earlier on Monday, President Donald Trump warned that from now on, every action taken by the Houthi rebels would be seen as directly linked to Iran. “Let nobody be fooled! The hundreds of attacks being made by Houthi, the sinister mobsters and thugs based in Yemen, who are hated by the Yemeni people, all emanate from, and are created by, Iran. Any further attack or retaliation by the ‘Houthis’ will be met with great force, and there is no guarantee that that force will stop there,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
