A recent incident in Brooklyn’s iconic Bridge Park involving the removal of posters depicting Israeli children held by Hamas has garnered significant attention. The individual responsible for tearing down these posters has been identified as Noah Schaffer, a 41-year-old former magician. His father, Eric Schaffer, has taken swift action by suspending him from his position at his own company. The incident occurred over the weekend when Noah and his wife, Kelly, were observed removing the posters, and they faced criticism from a Jewish woman at the scene. In a statement posted on social media, StopAntisemitism identified the couple, mentioning that Kelly Schaffer had previous legal troubles and currently works as a social worker for Urban Dove NY. Noah was employed as a “strategist” at Human Factors International – a company owned by his father. Eric Schaffer, who is Jewish, informed his company’s staff about the situation via email, insisting that his son is not an antisemite nor a supporter of Hamas. The elder Schaffer emphasized that the company, Human Factors International, does not condone his son’s actions and has placed him on unpaid leave for the next four months. During this time, Noah is expected to learn more about his Jewish family history, reflect on his actions, and make amends. Before his position at Human Factors International, Noah Schaffer worked as a magician at “A Taste of Magic,” a dinner show on the Upper West Side. Kelly Schaffer’s professional background includes working as a social worker at Urban Dove, a New York City school program for youths. She gained attention after being listed among protesters on the “Antifa Watch” website due to her arrest during a protest against the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in New Jersey.
