Yarden Bibas, who endured captivity at the hands of Hamas, has kept a low profile since gaining his freedom. Now, however, he’s stepping into the spotlight to advocate for the release of his friends, David and Ariel Cunio, who are among 58 hostages still being held in Gaza.
In a promotional clip ahead of a full interview scheduled to air Monday morning on CBS’s 60 Minutes, Bibas appears alongside other former hostages Tal Shoham, and Keith and Aviva Siegel. In the short preview, Bibas declares, “I am here because of Trump. Only because of him.”
When journalist Lesley Stahl asked Bibas what he would say if given the opportunity to speak directly to President Donald Trump, he answered, “Please stop, stop this war and help bring all the hostages back.”
The televised conversation follows the recent shloshim, the 30-day memorial marking the loss of his wife, Shiri, and their sons, Kfir and Ariel. They were killed while in captivity, and their remains were returned to Israel earlier this month under the terms of a hostage agreement that has since fallen apart.
