On Monday this past week, the medical auxiliary team from an emergency room (ER) in one of the hospitals in the Sharon region took a day to work on team building and left their duties at the emergency room. They were able to do this because volunteers from United Hatzalah’s emergency room assistance project took over their responsibilities for the day. The volunteers, each of whom is a trained EMT in their own right, underwent specialized training to allow them to work in the ER and additional training for working as an auxiliary worker for this day. The switch took place on Monday and lasted for the entire day.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will travel to Morocco next week, where his plans include an effort to normalize relations with Israel, officials said Wednesday.
“Morocco plays a great role across the region as an important partner in promoting tolerance [and] has these quiet ties and relationship with Israel as well,” an official was quoted by AFP as telling reporters on condition of anonymity.
Pompeo is the highest-level U.S. official to visit Morocco since President Donald Trump’s election, and is scheduled to meet with King Mohammed VI. A State Department official said that Morocco was a “critical partner for us across the range of issues,” including counterterrorism, according to the report.

The German government is planning to ban all activity of Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah in the country, German daily Der Spiegel reported on Thursday.
Such a move would put Hezbollah on the same level as terrorist groups such as Islamic State and the PKK Kurdish militia.
Sources in the German foreign, interior and justice ministries told Der Spiegel the ban could happen as early as next week
Following the ban, all activities of Hezbollah would be forbidden in the country, including the public display of the group’s flag.
The European Union has to date outlawed only the so-called military branch of Hezbollah, but not the entire group.
German lawmakers had previously considered outlawing the Lebanese terrorist group during the summer.

Queen Elizabeth II is apparently considering retiring in about 18 months so her son, Prince Charles, can assume the throne, reports in the UK said Wednesday.
The 93-year-old monarch is weighing stepping down around her 95th birthday, the same age that her husband, Prince Philip, withdrew from his royal duties, sources told the UK’s Express.
“Her Majesty is mindful of her age and wants to make sure when the time comes, the transition of the Crown is seamless,” a former senior member of the royal household told the outlet.
“I understand the queen has given the matter considerable thought and believes that, if she is still alive at 95, she will seriously consider passing the reign to Charles.”

Israeli security forces have thwarted an attempt to smuggle a massive quantity of military equipment into the Gaza Strip, the IDF revealed on Thursday.
The Israeli military said that officials from the Defense Ministry’s Crossings Authority, along with officers from the Gaza District Coordination Office and the Office of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) seized hundreds of parcels of dual-use products at the Erez Crossing.
The products were bought online in hopes of eluding detection and were destined for terrorist groups in Gaza, the military said.

North Korea fired two projectiles on Thursday, using the start of the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States to telegraph its frustration over Washington’s refusal to grant sanctions relief.
The short-range projectiles were launched from Ryonpo on the North’s east coast around 5 p.m. local time, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said. They added that the projectiles, presumed to have been fired from a super-large multiple rocket launcher, traveled a distance of about 235 miles and reached an altitude of 60 miles.
“This type of act from North Korea does not help efforts to alleviate tensions on the Korean Peninsula,” the JCS said.
