Thousands of demonstrators again blocked main city thoroughfares on Friday and, in a new show of displeasure, surrounded police headquarters, demanding that a deeply unpopular extradition bill be fully withdrawn by the city’s leader and police investigate cases of alleged abuse by officers.
For over a week protesters have taken to the streets of the semiautonomous territory calling for the scrapping of a bill that would allow for case-by-case extraditions to mainland China. The continued upheaval has placed Carrie Lam, the pro-Beijing chief executive, at the center of the most serious crisis of her political career.

US National Security Adviser John Bolton will travel to Israel on Sunday to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the White House said on Thursday.
Bolton will also meet with Israeli national security and atomic energy officials during the trip, National Security Council spokesman Garrett Marquis noted.
The trip precedes a US-led conference in Bahrain on Tuesday and Wednesday on proposals for the Palestinian economy as part of a coming peace plan.

President Donald Trump ordered an attack on Iran on Thursday in retaliation for the downing of a surveillance drone in the Strait of Hormuz but called the operation off just before it was due to occur because it would have caused extensive casualties, he said Friday.
In a series of morning tweets, Trump said he called off strikes on three Iranian sites minutes before they were to be launched because he was informed of the likely loss of life among Iranians.
“We were cocked & loaded to retaliate last night on 3 different sights when I asked, how many will die,” Trump tweeted. “150 people, sir, was the answer from a General. 10 minutes before the strike I stopped it.”

The mitzvah of Pesach Sheni, introduced in our parshah, raises a few questions.
Firstly, there is no other mitzvah which the Torah provides a second chance to fulfill in the event that one did not perform the mitzvah in its required time. If a person misses Keri’as Shema, Teki’as Shofar, Achilas Matzah, or any other mitzvah within its appointed period, there is no opportunity to make it up later. What is it about the mitzvah of Korban Pesach, the Pesach Sacrifice, that is different, such that the Torah provides an opportunity – actually, an obligation – to make it up if missed?

Do you want your children to experience the satisfaction of being givers rather than takers?
Do you want your children to learn to be mekadshei Hashem, and to develop leadership qualities that will position them to serve as the leaders and askanim of the next generation?
Do you find that in spite of all the middos programs that are offered in our schools, you still struggle to instill empathy and sensitivity in your children?
Do you want your children to experience genuine happiness and have an intrinsic sense of motivation?
Do you wish your children would take responsibility and lessen their feelings of entitlement?

The Federal Aviation Administration on Thursday evening issued an emergency order that bars U.S. aircraft from an overwater area of Iranian airspace amid increased U.S./Iran tensions, according to Reuters.
The order covers a Tehran-controlled section over the Strait of Hormuz and Gulf of Oman. The agency also issued a separate advisory to operators that said the nearest civil aircraft was within approximately 45 nautical miles of the drone Iran shot down this week.
“There were numerous civil aviation aircraft operating in the area at the time of the intercept,” the FAA said, according to Reuters. The agency added that it is concerned about military activity in close proximity to civil aircraft routes.

Eviation Aircraft Ltd., an Israeli aviation company, displayed the Eviation Alice, an entirely electric commuter plane, at the Paris Air Show this week.
The Alice, which can seat nine passengers and two pilots, can fly at 273 miles per hour for up to 621 miles on one battery charge, at a cost of $200 per hour of flight. The battery comprises 65% of the plane’s weight. The plane’s unusual and modern look, which Eviation CEO Omar Bar-Yohay described as “whale-shaped,” is due to its aerodynamic efficiency.
