Instead, they will be marking the yartzeit by joining the global “Barcheinu Avinu” broadcast coordinated by the Vaad Or Vechom Hiskashrus, an organization dedicated to providing Chassidic inspiration and educational programming to Chabad-Lubavitch communities, this Wednesday, June 24, at 2:30 PM EST.

The north Tel Aviv police district has, for years, been combining staffers and police volunteers to lend a hand in the community via a program called “Something for Someone”. The project connects the officer and volunteers to the members of the community who have, for one reason or another, found themselves on the outskirts of society. Many of these people have fallen through the cracks in the system and are not receiving help from any government body. A few weeks ago, police dispatch received a call regarding a man who was defecating outside on Einstein Street in Tel Aviv. Local Police Commander, Staff Sergeant Ilan Chazan, responded to the call and found the offender.

Two people were killed and seven others were wounded early Monday when multiple people fired into a crowd at an impromptu celebration in North Carolina, police said. Five others were hit by vehicles. The shooting happened at an impromptu block party in Charlotte that was a continuation of Juneteenth celebrations, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Deputy Chief Gerald Smith said at a media briefing Monday. About 400 people gathered on the north side of the city when someone in the crowd was struck during a hit-and-run accident, Smith said. Police responding to the scene heard shots being fired. Police believe more than one person fired weapons because videos recorded sounds from guns of different calibers. Authorities recovered around 100 casings from the scene.

Israel’s Ministerial Committee on Legislation advanced two bills decriminalizing the use of recreational marijuana on Sunday, opening the doors for the potential full legalization of recreational marijuana in Israel. The bills, which were proposed by Likud MK Sharren Haskel and Blue & White MK Ram Shefa, are expected to pass a preliminary reading in the Knesset on Wednesday. The bills would then be combined and would have to be approved by the committee and Knesset three times as a government-sponsored bill before becoming law. Haskel spearheaded the initiative after having led a campaign for the past five years for the decriminalization of cannabis use in Israel.

Coronavirus cases in Florida surpassed 100,000 on Monday, part of an alarming surge across the South and West as states reopen for business and many Americans resist wearing masks or keeping their distance from others. The disturbing signs in the Sunshine State as well as places like Arizona, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas and South Carolina — along with countries such as Brazil, India and Pakistan — are raising fears that the progress won after months of lockdowns is slipping away. “It is snowballing. We will most certainly see more people die as a result of this spike,” said Dr.

A day before Geoffrey S. Berman was axed from his job as head of the U.S. Attorney’s office in Manhattan, he refused to sign onto a letter crafted by senior officials in Washington lambasting New York’s mayor for putting COVID-19 restrictions on religious gatherings. Berman’s refusal didn’t directly contribute to his ouster. But it was another example of the ways in which he appeared to run afoul of Attorney General William Barr and other high-ranking officials at the Justice Department. According to several people familiar with their relationship, Berman, a political donor to President Donald Trump who investigated and charged some of his allies, wasn’t a team player. He operated outside Washington leadership, and won praise from Trump critics as an independent thinker.

While New York State continues to grapple with the various stages of reopening, Mrs. Leah Steinberg, Director of Agudath Israel’s Project LEARN Division, has been appointed to New York State Education Department’s Task Force on Reopening Schools. Board of Regents Chancellor Betty Rosa and Interim Commissioner of Education Shannon Tahoe created this task force in order to bring multiple perspectives to the policy table as the State works on reopening educational institutions following COVID-19. Mrs. Steinberg hopes to highlight the struggles of the special needs community during this period. “The special needs community has suffered immeasurable harm during this pandemic,” she said.

There was a powerful explosion and then R’ Chanoch was enveloped in flames. This was to the horror in front of the eyes of his children. Click here to donate! When Reb Chanoch’s wife, Mrs. Chayelle Regal (Chaya Reizel bas Soreh Rivka Alte Gittel), saw her husband enveloped in flames, she ran to save his life, grabbing a hose and spraying water on him. As a result of her heroic attempt, she, too, was badly burned, sustaining second and third-degree burns.A story hard to imagine. Tragically, Reb Chanoch returned his pure neshamah to his Maker a week later. Reb Chanoch was truly a unique individual, a yarei Shamayim and a tremendous talmid chacham. He was very involved in klal work, though he insisted on remaining behind the scenes.
