The Hamas terror group engaged in psychological terrorism on Friday, releasing a video in which the voice of the hostage Noa Argamani, 26, is heard calling to be released from Gaza. Her father recognized her voice in the video. Argamani is heard saying that “she’s already in captivity for over 237 days,” which indicates that the video was recorded on Thursday. In January, Hamas released a video of Argamani with two other hostages, Itai Svirsky and Yossi Sharabi, who were both later murdered by Hamas. Noa’s mother is very ill with cancer and her last wish is that she see Noa, her only child, before her death. (YWN’s Jerusalem desk is keeping you updated after tzeis ha’Shabbos in Israel)

The Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver said Friday an “incendiary device” was thrown at the front doors of a synagogue in what Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called a “disgusting act of antisemitism.” Vancouver police said the case was being investigated as an act of arson and possible hate crime. The federation said in a statement the incident occurred at the Schara Tzedeck shul at around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday and that damage was minor and no one was hurt. The federation calls the alleged incident a “deliberate act of hate” and an “attempt to intimidate” the Jewish community. Rabbi Andrew Rosenblatt said people were inside the shul after maariv around 9:20 p.m. on Thursday when they heard a “bang” outside.

President Joe Biden has announced a comprehensive new proposal to end the Israel-Hamas conflict, urging Hamas to accept the deal that he says would bring all hostages home, ensure Israel’s security, and pave the way for a better future for both Israelis and Palestinians. The proposal, green-lit by Israel and transmitted to Hamas by Qatar, has three phases. The first phase would last six weeks, during which there would be a full ceasefire, withdrawal of Israeli forces from populated Gaza areas, and the release of hostages, including women, the elderly, and the wounded, in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. American hostages would be among those released in this first stage.

President Joe Biden ridiculed a reporter when asked if he would serve a full four-year term if reelected in November. The exchange occurred on the tarmac at Philadelphia International Airport, where Biden was surrounded by a group of people. The reporter asked, “President Biden, will you be serving your full four-year term or handing over power to Vice President Harris?” Biden pointed to his head and replied, “Are you OK? Are you all right? You’re not hurt, are you?” The reporter repeated the question, saying he couldn’t hear the president, to which Biden responded, “I said, are you OK? Did you fall on your head or something?” The president then turned away and spoke to nearby women.

The IDF has announced the completion of a nearly three-week-long operation in northern Gaza’s Jabaliya, one of the most densely populated areas in Gaza. The 98th Division, comprising the 7th, 460th, and Paratroopers brigades, engaged in intense battles, killing hundreds of terror operatives and recovering the bodies of seven Israeli hostages slain by Hamas on October 7. According to the IDF, Hamas transformed Jabaliya’s civilian infrastructure into a “fortified combat complex,” firing at troops from schools and civilian shelters, and building extensive tunnel networks under civilian buildings. The troops faced massive RPG fire, with over 120 anti-tank projectiles launched, as well as numerous incidents of planted explosive devices, sniper fire, and drones dropping bombs.

A poll released on Thursday shows President Biden holding an uncomfortably slim lead over former President Donald Trump in New York, a traditionally Democratic stronghold. The Emerson College Polling/The Hill/PIX11 survey found that Biden leads Trump by 7 points, 48% to 41%, in a head-to-head matchup. This lead expands to 10 points when undecided voters are factored in. The poll also reveals that Trump performs better when third-party candidates are included, garnering 44% support to Biden’s 38%. Notably, independent voters in New York are backing Trump by a significant margin, with 43% supporting him compared to 33% for Biden.

IDF troops have made significant discoveries in their ongoing intelligence-based operations in the Rafah area, uncovering numerous weapons and military equipment belonging to Hamas. The finds include long-range rockets, RPGs, explosive devices, vests, ammunition, and additional military equipment. In central Rafah, IDF troops located Hamas rocket launchers, terror tunnel shafts, and weapons, and dismantled a weapons storage facility. Meanwhile, IDF troops directed Israeli Air Force (IAF) aircraft to target and eliminate a Hamas Nukhba terrorist operating in the area. Over the past few days, IDF troops have made significant progress in eastern Jabaliya, dismantling hundreds of meters of terror tunnel routes and eliminating terrorists in short-quarters encounters and using tank fire.

by Rabbi Yair Hoffman for the Sefas Tamim Foundation QUESTION:  My friend didn’t do her report which had to be handed in on a certain date.  As a classmate was collecting the reports, my friend placed hers in the middle of the pile.  She later admitted to me that she did not do the assignment but rather she only wrote the last few lines of the conclusion on page two.  She wanted to fool the teacher into thinking that the teacher was the one who had lost the first page and would not force my friend to “redo” the bulk of the assignment. She claims that she isn’t lying.  I think that it is lying.  Who is right?
