Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations strongly denounced a recent UN report that accuses Israel of committing acts of genocide and sexual violence in Gaza, calling it both “outrageous” and “antisemitic.”
“This is an antisemitic report against Israel. Blaming us after October 7th is not acceptable,” stated Ambassador Danny Danon.
He further criticized the UN’s handling of the issue, pointing out its silence on crimes committed against Israelis. “We know that the sexual crimes were conducted against Israelis during October 7th. The Human Rights Council is still silent about this,” he remarked. “When you speak about antisemitism in the UN bodies, you realize that it still exists, and today we received a very, very strong example of that.”

A senior official at the National Public Transportation Authority recommended that Jews across the country refrain as much as possible from traveling to Jerusalem during the three days of Purim Meshulash, Friday, Shabbos, and Sunday – due to a real concern of particularly heavy traffic congestion, which will cause widespread disruptions to the public transportation system within Jerusalem and on the roads leading to it.

For 22 years, Maran Sar HaTorah HGR’ Chaim Kanievsky zt”l mentioned time and again that one should give matanos l’evyonim to Kupat Ha’ir, as he himself did* The best time to give is now, before Purim, to enable the Kupat Ha’ir messengers to reach the homes of the poor on Purim morning with cash envelopes* Opportunity’s knocking now!   It’s hard to describe in words all the preparations Kupat Ha’ir makes for Purim. All the lists have to be checked and re-checked for accuracy- the current financial state of the family, how many family members at home, monthly income, and how much money to give them for matanos l’evyonim. There are thousands of needy families on the lists, and if they don’t get the envelopes Purim morning, many won’t have the means to purchase food for the Purim meal.

Syria’s interim president on Thursday signed a temporary constitution that leaves the country under Islamist rule for five years during a transitional phase. The nation’s interim rulers have struggled to exert their authority across much of Syria since the Islamist former insurgent group, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, or HTS, led a lightning insurgency that overthrew longtime President Bashar Assad in December. Former HTS leader Ahmad al-Sharaa is now the country’s interim president — a decision that was announced after a meeting of the armed groups that took part in the offensive against Assad. At the same meeting, the groups agreed to repeal the country’s old constitution and said a new one would be drafted.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced that she will be meeting with President Trump at the White House this coming Friday, according to a statement she made to the press on Thursday.
The meeting is expected to cover various issues, with one likely focus being Trump’s efforts to eliminate the congestion pricing initiative. This will be the second meeting between Hochul and Trump, following their previous discussion in the Oval Office last month.
“Now there will be a little disruption,” Trump continued.
This meeting occurs just days after Hochul criticized Trump over his ongoing tariff dispute with Canada, which led to Ontario imposing a temporary 25% surcharge on energy exports to certain U.S. states earlier this week.

US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff has put forward a fresh proposal aimed at securing the release of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza while prolonging the current ceasefire agreement.
A source with knowledge of the plan stated that under this arrangement, the ceasefire would continue for an additional 50 days. In return, Israel would release imprisoned terrorists, facilitating the release of a group of hostages.
During this extended period of calm, discussions would recommence regarding the second phase of the agreement. This phase includes Israel’s full military withdrawal from Gaza, despite Hamas having repeatedly violated previous ceasefire conditions.

U.S. wholesale inflation decelerated last month, suggesting that price pressures are easing for now. But the progress may not last as President Trump intensifies his trade wars. The Labor Department reported Thursday that its producer price index — which tracks inflation before it reaches consumers — was unchanged from January after rising 0.6% the month before. Compared to a year earlier, producer prices were up 3.2%, down from a year-over-year gain of 3.7% in January. Excluding volatile food and energy prices, so-called core wholesale prices fell 0.1% last month from January, first drop since July. Core producer prices rose 3.4%, lower than the 3.8% year-over-year gain in January. The numbers were all lower than economists had expected.

Tech entrepreneur, billionaire, and Trump confidant Elon Musk caused a stir with a tweet asserting that Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, and Mao Zedong were not directly responsible for the deaths of millions.
His post stated, “Stalin, Mao, and Hitler didn’t murder millions of people. Their public sector employees did.”
Musk’s remark comes as he faces ongoing clashes with the public sector, advocating for reducing government bureaucracy and limiting wasteful spending in the United States.
Many swiftly criticized him for appearing to diminish the responsibility of three of history’s most notorious mass murderers.

The White House withdrew the nomination of former Florida congressman Dr. David Weldon to lead the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention because he wasn’t assured of getting enough Republican support to be confirmed. The Republican-controlled Senate health committee announced Thursday morning that it was canceling a planned hearing on Weldon’s nomination — less than an hour before it was scheduled to begin. A person familiar with the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations, said the White House pulled the nomination because it became clear Weldon did not have the votes for confirmation. The FBI is warning Americans not to respond to scam road toll collection texts after receiving more than 2,000 complaints this month. The texts impersonating state road toll collection agencies attempt to get phone users to reveal financial information, such as credit or debit cards or bank accounts. They’re so-called smishing scams — a form of phishing that relies on SMS texts to trick people into sending money or share sensitive information. The FBI says the texts are moving from state to state and use nearly identical language falsely claiming that recipients have an unpaid or outstanding toll that could result in fines or suspended driving privileges.

Adam Bohler, who was assigned by President Donald Trump as an envoy for hostage negotiations, has reportedly been removed from overseeing efforts related to the hostages in Gaza, according to The Jewish Insider.
Sources within the Republican Party have indicated that there is growing pressure to strip him of his role entirely in all hostage-related matters, not just the ongoing situation in Gaza.
Bohler sparked controversy following an interview with CNN, where he openly discussed the direct communication between the United States and Hamas. During the interview, he stated, “We are not agents of Israel, we have our own interests,” and described members of Hamas as “pretty nice guys.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed President Trump’s proposed 30-day cease-fire plan for Ukraine on Thursday, insisting that the West must stop supplying weapons to Kyiv before any agreement could be considered by the Kremlin.
Although he expressed a willingness to “halt military actions,” Putin made it clear that Russia would only entertain the Trump proposal if significant alterations were made.
“We agree with proposals to cease hostilities [in Ukraine], but this cessation must lead to a long-term peace and eliminate the root cause of the initial crisis,” he stated, though he did not specify what he believed the “cause” to be.

An 18-year-old named Shneur Zalman from Rosh Ha’ayin survived a terrifying shooting incident near the Ariel Industrial Zone on Wednesday. Now recovering at Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva, he shared his harrowing experience.
“I was traveling in a vehicle and suddenly I saw a green laser pointed at me,” he recalled from his hospital bed. “I pressed the gas, but then I heard a string of nearly 20 bullets hitting the vehicle. The steering wheel locked, and I managed to escape on foot towards the industrial zone.”
His mother explained that spotting the laser gave him a brief but crucial moment to realize he was in danger and attempt to flee.

This year, more than ever before, with the current difficult matzav for acheinu b’nei yisroel in general and B’nei Torah in particular, there is just so much negativity worldwide. We now have a unique opportunity to portray a beautiful and positive message about our simchas Purim. The zechus of the special simcha emanating from torah learning on the Yom tov of Simcha should encapsulate your life with all the brochos of Simcha! Fifteen years ago on Purim night a mini-revolution happened that addresses this issue. A group of very special Baalei Battim sponsored 23 bochurim from Yeshiva Torah Temimah in Brooklyn, NY to sit and learn for two hours on Purim night. Each bochur received a $250 credit to a tzedokah of his choice.

He is said to have accumulated considerable wealth during the conflict.
