Basem Naim, a senior figure within the Hamas terrorist group’s political bureau, stated Wednesday evening that, in anticipation of President Donald Trump’s upcoming trip to the Middle East, high-level negotiations are underway to potentially reach a limited deal. This proposed arrangement would involve the release of a number of Israeli hostages in return for restricted humanitarian aid deliveries into Gaza, though it would not include a commitment to cease hostilities.
In an interview with the media, Naim described the current efforts as taking place amid what he called “the crime of starvation and ongoing mass destruction,” while also referencing mounting threats of further “military aggression.”
