In addition to being a massive Talmud Chochom and Posek in the community, Rav Bensinger was one of the founding Rabbonim behind Miami Hatzalah, and was a Police Chaplain for years. The Levaya For R’ Bensinger will be passing by Torah V’emunah today at 1:00PM – community members are asked not to go in the shul and to stay by the cars. YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of Reb Yossi Borenstein Z”L. He was 73 and a victim of COVID-19. The Niftar was the longtime President of the Sfardishe Shul in Boro Park (14th Avenue and 45th Street), and an einikel of the Alexsander Chassidic dynasty. He was the only son-in-law of HaRav Rachmiel Zelcer ZT”L who was the mechaber of the seforim series Ner L’Meah. Reb Yossel was the son of the long-serving shamas in Shomer Shabbos Shul. The Niftar was a tremendous Marbitz Torah and served as the Rosh Yeshiva of the Belzer Yeshiva for decades, and a member of the Belzer BADATZ “K’hal Machzikei Hadas”. Mrs Chana Feige Eichler A”H from the Sanz community of Yerushalayim was Niftar on Sunday from COVID-19. She was hospitalized in Kaplan hospital in Rechovot where she sadly passed away. She was 79. Chana had contracted the virus two weeks ago and was hospitalized after her condition deteriorated. Doctors fought to save her life but unfortunately were unable to do so. She was married to Rabbi Yaakov Eichler, one of the most important rebbeim in Hamesorah Talmud Torah in Yerushalayim. Chana was a storeowner for her livelihood and helped her husband and enabled him to teach Torah. She left behind five daughters and grandchildren who carry on her legacy. YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of HaRav Yisroel Chaim Yehuda Grumer ZT”L. He was around 87 years old. The Niftar was the Cleveland Rosh Av Beis Din and Mora D’Asra of Congregation Shomre Shabbos. He was appointed Rov in 1981, and the Av Beis Din in 1984. He was a legendary Masmid, who spent his life engaged in Harbotzas HaTorah and P’sak alacha. No communal issue was too large, too small, or beyond the Rov’s realm of expertise. Rav Grumer was a selfless rov, who had a heart that had room for all people. He is survived by his wife, Rebbetzin Rochel Grumer, who stood as his side for all these years. HaRav Avraham Cohen ZT”L, 81, passed away today from COVID-19 Coronavirus in Shamir Medical Center in Tzrifin. HaRav Cohen was the former head of the Otzer HaChaim Kollel on Chaim Ozer Street in the Bais Yisrael neighborhood of Yerushalayim. Over the past few years, the Niftarad been getting weaker and was living in a nursing home in Bnei Brak. He contacted the virus there and passed away on Thursday in the hospital. Rabbi Cohen was a student of the late Posek Hador, Hagaon HaRav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach ZATZAL, and assisted in the publication of the Shmiras Shabbos Kehilchasa sefarim. He later studied in Ponevezh Maran Harav Shach ZATZAL. He authored the sefarim known as Bikurei Avraham which comprises his shiurim on Shas. The Levaya took place at 9:00PM  in Yerushalayim.

YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of R’ Pinchos Boruch Unger Z”L a resident of New Square. He was 23 and was Niftar from COVID-19. The Niftar had no previous medical conditions, and had been hospitalized in critical condition for the past few weeks. He leaves behind a wife and young child. Bnei Brak was plunged into mourning from the devastating news of the petira of Harav Yaakov Kolodetsky, z’tl, a noted talmid chacham in the Ramat Elchanan neighborhood, from COVID-19 at the age of 70. Rav Yaakov was known as a gaon in Torah and halacha and as someone who performed much chessed behind the scenes. Friends and relatives told B’Chadrei Chareidim that R’ Yaakov was known for his love of Torah and mitzvos and was especially known for always greeting everyone with pleasantness and helping others, to the point that it would difficult to find a resident of Ramat Elchanan that wasn’t helped by him in one way or another. R’ Yaakov had a special connection to his brother, HaRav Yitzchak Kolodetsky, the son-in-law of Hagaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky.

YWN regrets to inform you of the passing of HaRav Yonasan Binyamin Halevi Jungreis ZT”L. The Niftar was a Holocaust survivor of Bergen Belsen. He was the son of Rabbi Avraham and Rebbetzin Miriam Jungreis of Canarsie, Brooklyn, and brother of Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis A”H and Rabbi Jacob Jungreis. He was a descendant of the legendary Menuchas Asher- the Czenger Rav, Harav Asher Anshel Halevi Jungreis ZT”L. He was one of 1600 Jews saved on the Kasztner train – a source of pride, yet also leaving him with a profound responsibility to continue saving Jewish souls. After attending Yeshiva Chaim Berlin in Brooklyn, he became a prized student at Ponovezh Yeshiva in Israel and Yeshiva University in New York where he received his semicha.

Rav Jacobs was a longtime Mashgiach at Lakewood’s Beth Medrash Govoha, where he delivered thousands of Vaadim and Drashos over the years to Bochrim and Yungerleit. He was a sought-after address for all types of Eitzas, whether is was Shalom Bayis, guidance with Shidduchim or other questions.
