Klal Yisroel recently suffered the loss of Mrs. Milicent Silbermintz A”H, wife of legendary Pirchei Agudas Yisroel founder Rabbi Yehoshua “Josh” Silbermintz after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Silbermintz, 88 was the daughter of Yosef and Sarah Bachman. She was born and grew up in Boro Park,Brooklyn. Incredibly, she and R’ Josh built a home dedicated to chinuch that impacted thousands upon thousands of yiddishe children across 3 generations. Rabbi & Mrs Silbermintz served as Head Counselor and Camp Mother in Camp Munk for over 4 decades, thousands lovingly remember the incredible warmth and vibrancy of Mrs. Silbermintz.

YWN regrets to inform you of the petira of Mrs Marsha Kramer A”H. She was 74. Mrs Kramer was Niftar on Shabbos from COVID-19 while in Florida where she lived half the year. She was a longtime Flatbush resident, where her husband R’eb Sruly Kramer was the Gabbai at Rabbi Shteinvertzel’s Shul. YWN regrets to inform you of the petirah of Hagaon Harav Shlomo Elazar Wulliger zt”l. He was 81 years old. Rav Elazar Wulliger was the youngest son of the illustrious Rabbi Mordechai Wulliger zt”l. The Rov was born in the Lower East Side in 1939. He learned in Yeshiva Torah Vodaath, and was the youngest musmach of the Yeshiva at that time. He began his leadership as a Rov at the early age of 21 in Tuscon, Arizona. To meet the needs of the community he started a Talmud Torah and became a mohel. From there, he served as Rov in Los Angeles, the Bronx, and Canarsie. In 1984, he started a Bais Medrash in Boro Park on 19th Avenue. The shul quickly became a Makom Torah for the neighborhood.

YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of the Kozlover Rebbe, HaRav Meir Rokeach ZATZA on Motzei Shabbos. He was 78. The Rebbe was a renowned Talmid Chochom and Posek in Boro Park, and was a son of the previous Kozlover Rebbe, HaRav Moshe Rokeach ZATZAL, and succeeded him as Rebbe. He was a son-in-law of the famed Gaon and Tzaddik, HaRav Simcha Bunim Grunberger ZATZAL, the Rov of Pressburg – the Chasam Sofer Shul in Washington Heights. He is survived by his Rebbitzin and large family. The Levaya will be held on Sunday morning at 11:00AM in front of the Kozlover Bais Medrash. Corner 55th St and 12th Avenue. YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of Hagaon HaRav Dovid Olewski ZATZAL, the Rosh Yeshiva of the Gerrer Yeshiva in Boro Park, Brooklyn. He was in his 70’s. The Rosh Yeshiva was a tremendous Talmid Chochom and Gaon and one of the most Choshuva Rabbonim in the Gerrer Chassidus, serving at the Rosh Yeshiva in the Gerrer Yeshiva in Boro Park for decades. First at Mesivta Bais Yisroel and later at the Yeshiva Gedolah. He was a powerful speaker, delivering Drashos at many major Asifas in the United States, as well as big functions in the Gerrer Chassidus. We regret to inform you of the petirah of Hagaon Harav Avraham Yaakov Littman zt’l of Monsey, NY. He was 71 years old and contracted Covid-19 two weeks ago. His condition deteriorated over the past week and he passed away early Erev Shabbos. For more than thirty years Rav Avrohom Yaakov served as a senior maggid shiur at Yeshiva Ohel Torah in Monsey where he was renowned as a singularly outstanding lamdan and gaon ba’Torah who influenced many hundreds of talmidim. In his youth Rav Avraham Yaakov zt”l was a close talmid of numerous gedolei olam: Rav Mottel Weinberg zt”l, Rav Shmuel Brudny zt”l, Rav Shmuel Berenbaum zt”l and Rav Berel Soloveitchik zt”l. They all recognized his unique capacity for gadlius baTorah and all had a profound impact on Rav Avrohom Yaakov zt”l.

YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of Rebbetzin Chaya Nechama Halbershtam A”H, wife of the Klausenberger Rebbe ZATZAL (The Shefa Chaim of Sanz). She is the mother of the Sanzer Rebbe (Netanya) and the Sanz-Klausenberger Rebbe (Boro Park). She was 96. The Rebbitzen was the daughter of the Hagaon HaRav Shmuel Dovid Unger ZATZAL, the GAVAD of Nitra. The Klasuenberger Rebbe ZATZAL married the Rebbitzen in the United States when he was 41 years old, after he had lost his first wife and 11 children HY”D in the Holocaust. YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of Hagaon HaRav Matis Blum of Queens. Rav Blum was the Rov of Cong. Torah Lodaas in Queens, and taught thousands of Frum girls over the years at various girls schools in Brooklyn and Queens. He wrote and disseminated weekly Divrei Torah called “Torah Lodaas”, which was distributed to hundreds of Shuls and Batei Midrashim for nearly 40 years.
