California Democrat Rep. Nancy Pelosi says ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s death is significant; Kevin Corke reports from the White House.

President Trump said in a press conference Sunday that he did not inform congressional Democrats before launching a military operation that resulted in Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s death because of potential leaks.
“We were going to notify them last night, but we decided not to do that because Washington leaks like I’ve never seen before. There’s no country in the world that leaks like we do, and Washington is a leaking machine. And I told my people we will not notify them until our great people are out — not just in but out. I don’t want to have them greeted with firepower like you wouldn’t believe.”
Trump said he did, however, inform the Russian government that U.S. soldiers were conducting an operation in northwestern Syria.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff were not informed in advance of the U.S. special operations forces raid in northwestern Syria in which ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi died, Schiff said on ABC’s “This Week.”
“My understanding [Pelosi] wasn’t [told]. But a couple of things, first of all, good riddance. [Al-Baghdadi] was a blood thirsty killer to the degree that he retained operational control of ISIS, Schiff said. “This is an operational success, this is a symbolic victory. He had the blood of thousands and thousands of people on his hands, including many Americans and American journalists. So, this a great day, a ruthless killer has been brought to Justice. ”

Speaker Nancy Pelosi is calling for House members to be briefed on a U.S. military raid that President Trump said led to the death of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
In her statement on Sunday, Pelosi saluted “the heroism, dedication and skill of our military and our intelligence professionals and acknowledge the work of our partners in the region.”
But she noted that “the death of this ISIS leader does not mean the death of ISIS.”
“The House must be briefed on this raid, which the Russians but not top Congressional Leadership were notified of in advance, and on the Administration’s overall strategy in the region. Our military and allies deserve strong, smart and strategic leadership from Washington,” Pelosi added.

“All the credit goes here to the decisiveness of this commander-in-chief and the courage and professionalism” of U.S. Special Forces, he added.

The search giant on Friday announced a tweak to the software underlying its vaunted search engine that is meant to better interpret queries when written in sentence form. Whereas prior versions of the search engine may have overlooked words such as “can” and “to,” the new software is able to help evaluate whether those change the intent of a search, Google said.
