Israel’s police have opened a community assistance and services center for Chareidim in Yerushalayim, the first of its kind in the country.  A number of Chareidi officers will be serving at the center and one of them is a Chassidish Yiddish speaker. Commander of the Yerushalayim area for the police, Deputy Commissioner Doron Yadid, visited the center on Wednesday. According to a statement issued by the police, the center was opened as part of a long-term strategic plan in order to strengthen the connection between the police and the Chareidi community and in an effort to provide better serve the Chareidi communities inside the regional auspices of the Yerushalayim branches.

Hamas operatives inside the Gaza Strip continue to launch balloon bombs at Israel in the hopes of igniting large fires and injuring civilians. Police sappers were called to various locations in the Gaza periphery to dismantle explosive devices attached to bombs that were launched at Israel. The bombs landed in Sderot, Kiryat Gat, and in other locations throughout the regional council district of Sha’ar HaNegev. The areas where the balloons landed was cordoned off by police until the bombs could be defused. In numerous instances, United Hatzalah provided medical security for the police officers often using ATVs, especially when the bombs landed in fields or deserted areas that were difficult to access by car.

Located on Laurel Park Road, across the street from the school’s current trailers and bungalows, the building was going to house the almost 200 students of Bnos Devorah Raizel comfortably, with room for further growth.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu handed out additional ministerial positions to members of the Likud and Shas parties after he resigned this week from all of his ministerial positions. The resignation came as a result of the indictment letter that was handed down against Netanyahu by the Attorney General back in November. The new appointments included MK David Bitton as the new Minister of Agriculture, Deputy Foreign Minister Tzippi Hotovely was appointed Minister of the Diaspora, Deputy Minister Itzik Cohen from Shas was appointed the Minister of Construction and Housing, and Shasha Bitton who was a former MK with the Kulanu party will be appointed as the Social Services Minister.

Among the dead in the horrific bus crash involving a number 947 bus traveling from Jerusalem to Haifa on Sunday night, the first night of Chanukah, were chareidim; a resident of Elad and a woman apparently from the north.

Gedolei Yisrael Shlita, headed by HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita and HaGaon HaRav Gershon Edelstein Shlita on Tuesday call on the tzibur to be mispallel for HaGaon HaRav Meshulam Dovid Solovechik Shlita, whose condition has worsened and is in need of Rachmei Shomayim.

Another day of simcha in the Gerre Chassidus as preparations continue for the chasenah of a grandson of the Rebbe Shlita, a son of the rebbe’s son-in-law, Rav Nachum Rothstein, Rosh Yeshivas Nezer Hatorah.
