The United States fined German airline Lufthansa $4 million for its treatment of a group of Jewish passengers who were denied boarding a 2022 flight in Frankfurt after they had flown to Germany from New York. The U.S. Transportation Department said Tuesday that the fine is the largest the agency has issued against an airline for civil-rights violations, although Lufthansa was given credit for $2 million for compensation it gave the passengers, cutting the fine in half.

The White House has revealed that the United States has been closely monitoring Iranian threats against former President Donald Trump for years, and has issued a stern warning of “severe consequences” if Tehran attacks any U.S. citizen. “This is a national and homeland security matter of the highest priority,” said Sean Savett, spokesperson for the White House National Security Council. “We strongly condemn Iran for these brazen threats. Should Iran attack any of our citizens, including those who currently or formerly served the United States, Iran will face severe consequences.” (YWN World Headquarters – NYC)

Vice President Kamala Harris managed to raise eyebrows again on Monday, this time by reaching for the stars—literally—when attempting to answer a question about crime. During an interview with Roland Martin on Black Star Network, Harris took a detour into astronomy when asked about Donald Trump’s focus on crime in Democrat-run cities. “I talked with somebody once who said, ‘You know, if you just look at where the stars are in the sky. Don’t look at them as just random things; if you just look at them as points, look at the constellation—what does it show you?’” Harris rambled. “So you just outlined it, Roland, what does it show you? That the cities that he picks on in terms of Black population or Black mayor or both. C’mon.” Naturally, the internet pounced.

Israel is confronting a potential shortage of rocket and missile interceptors within its air defense system as it grapples with ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon and prepares for a possible escalation with Iran, according to a report by the Financial Times. Experts and former military officials cited by the newspaper indicate that while the United States is assisting Israel in addressing the issue, the strain on Israel’s air defense capabilities could force difficult decisions about which targets to prioritize for protection. Dana Stroul, a former U.S. defense official, emphasized the seriousness of the situation: “Israel’s munitions issue is serious.

Iranian state television has aired footage showing a person resembling Esmail Qaani, the commander of Iran’s Quds Force, attending a memorial ceremony, amid widespread speculation about his whereabouts and fate. Qaani had not been seen publicly in recent days, leading to rumors of his possible death. Some reports suggested Qaani had been killed in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon, which targeted top Hezbollah official Hashem Safieddine. Others speculated he may have suffered a heart attack or was being detained by Iranian authorities on suspicion of espionage. The airing of the footage, which appears to show Qaani at a funeral service in Karbala, Iraq, for a senior Revolutionary Guards commander, General Abbas Nilforoushan, seems to refute these rumors.

An armed man arrested at former President Donald Trump’s rally in Coachella, California, over the weekend is not being seen as a threat to the former president’s life, according to reports from the Trump campaign and Fox News. The man, identified as 49-year-old Vem Miller from Las Vegas, was arrested by local authorities for possessing a shotgun, a loaded handgun, and a high-capacity magazine. Miller, who later posted bail, told Fox News Digital that he is a longtime Trump supporter and attended the rally at the invitation of the Nevada Republican Party. “Yes, I’m 100% a Trump supporter,” Miller said. He explained that his political views shifted in 2018 and that he has admired Trump ever since.

In what can only be described as an unintended marathon for political journalists, former President Donald Trump inadvertently extended the 2024 campaign by two months—at least, in his own timeline—during a speech Monday night in Oaks, Pennsylvania. Addressing the crowd, Trump couldn’t resist boasting about his reported gains among Black and Hispanic voters. “Our poll numbers have gone through the roof with Black and Hispanic—have gone through the roof,” Trump declared with characteristic flair. “And I like that. I like that. I like that,” he added, basking in the cheers of his supporters. But then, in classic Trump fashion, things took a turn. Urging his audience to vote, Trump decided to rewrite the calendar.

Sergeant Major Adir Kadosh, 30, was identified as the police officer killed in a shooting attack on the southbound Highway 4 on Tuesday. Kadosh’s death comes just one month before he was set to be married. Kadosh joined the Israel Police in 2013 after completing his military service with the Border Police. The Israel Police released a statement, saying, “Adir was engaged in police activity when he fell in the line of duty.” According to eyewitness reports, the assailant approached the scene on foot and opened fire on passing vehicles before being shot by a civilian. Magen David Adom (MDA) Director General Eli Bin confirmed that five people were injured in the attack, with varying degrees of severity.

An elderly Jewish man became the target of a brutal attack in Boro Park after being pepper sprayed while exiting a sukkah on 50th Street near New Utrecht Avenue. The man had just stepped out of the sukkah, intending to head to his car, when a Middle Eastern man approached him without warning and unleashed a stream of pepper spray. The victim was left in agony, his eyes swelling rapidly from the effects of the attack. Within moments, Boro Park Hatzolah arrived at the scene, swiftly transporting the elderly man to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment. As chaos unfolded, Boro Park Shomrim sprang into action. They quickly reviewed surveillance footage from the area and managed to identify not only the make and model of the suspect’s car but also captured a clear image of the perpetrator.
