It seems the Democrats, who have spent the better part of the last three years railing against election objections, are now playing a different tune when it comes to a potential Donald Trump victory in 2024. Despite their constant reminders about the horrors of January 6 and their claims of upholding democracy, some of the party’s senior members are suddenly showing signs of hedging on whether they would certify a Trump win. Hypocrisy, anyone? Rep. Jamie Raskin, who once styled himself as the champion of democracy during his stint on the January 6 committee, told Axios that if Trump “won a free, fair, and honest election, then we would obviously accept it.” But, of course, Raskin couldn’t resist throwing in a caveat.

Iran has “no red lines” when it comes to defending its people and interests, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced in a post on X, as tensions in the region mount in anticipation of an Israeli strike. This statement comes in the wake of Iran’s recent ballistic missile attack on Israel and the IDF’s expected response. “Let it be known, Iran has no red lines when it comes to defending our people and our interests,” Araghchi wrote. U.S. officials have reported that Israel is narrowing down its response options to target Iran’s military and energy infrastructure, according to NBC. The report, which cites unnamed U.S. officials, indicates that there is no current plan to target Iran’s nuclear facilities or to carry out assassinations.

In an interview with Sky News, former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett called for a decisive Israeli strike on Iran’s nuclear program and its regime centers, emphasizing the need to target the leadership of the Iranian government. “I believe that Israel should strike Iran’s nuclear program and regime centers,” Bennett said. “We are trying to topple the regime—everything is on the table.” He clarified that while the Iranian people are not the target, the regime, which he described as an “octopus of terror,” should be directly confronted. “We should target the head of the octopus, including the Supreme Leader,” Bennett added.

A man was arrested outside a campaign rally for former President Donald Trump in Southern California on Saturday after authorities discovered he was in illegal possession of multiple firearms, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office reported. The arrest occurred at a security checkpoint at the intersection of Avenue 52 and Celebration Drive in Coachella, just minutes before the rally was scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. The suspect, identified as 49-year-old Vem Miller of Las Vegas, was found in possession of a shotgun, a loaded handgun, and a high-capacity magazine, according to officials. Miller was taken into custody and booked at the John J. Benoit Detention Center on charges related to the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

It’s not clear if he said selichos from Rosh Chodesh Elul until Yom Kippur, but Spanish scientists say that Christopher Columbus, the 15th-century explorer known for his voyages to the Americas, may have been of Sephardic Jewish descent. This conclusion was reached after a 22-year DNA analysis of Columbus’ remains, according to a documentary aired on Spain’s national broadcaster TVE. The true origins of Columbus have long been a topic of debate, with various countries, including Italy, Spain, and Portugal, laying claim to his heritage. Traditionally believed to have been born in Genoa, Italy, Columbus’ origins have been questioned by many historians. Theories have ranged from him being a Spanish Jew or a Basque to even Portuguese or British.

Columbia University’s pro-Palestinian student group, Columbia University Apartheid Divest, has intensified its anti-Israel rhetoric and is now openly supporting terrorist groups while simultaneously revoking a previous apology made after one of its members expressed violent sentiments against Zionists. In a statement, the group declared, “We support liberation by any means necessary, including armed resistance,” and retracted an earlier apology for a member’s remarks in which he claimed the university was “lucky” he wasn’t out “killing Zionists.” The group marked the one-year anniversary of Hamas’s Oct.

SpaceX pulled off the boldest test flight yet of its enormous Starship rocket on Sunday, catching the returning booster back at the launch pad with mechanical arms. A jubilant Elon Musk called it “science fiction without the fiction part.” Towering almost 400 feet (121 meters), the empty Starship blasted off at sunrise from the southern tip of Texas near the Mexican border. It arced over the Gulf of Mexico like the four Starships before it that ended up being destroyed, either soon after liftoff or while ditching into the sea. The previous one in June had been the most successful until Sunday’s demo, completing its flight without exploding. This time, Musk, SpaceX’s CEO and founder, upped the challenge for the rocket that he plans to use to send people back to the moon and on to Mars.

In a move aimed at reinforcing Israel’s air defense capabilities, the United States Department of Defense announced today the deployment of a Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system to Israel. Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder confirmed the deployment, authorized by Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin at the direction of President Biden. This deployment is a direct response to recent missile threats and unprecedented attacks on Israel by Iran, including two significant strikes on April 13 and October 1 of this year. The THAAD system, accompanied by U.S. military personnel, is designed to bolster Israel’s existing integrated air defense network and provide additional protection from ballistic missile attacks.

Former Democratic Congressman Peter Deutsch, who represented Florida’s 20th Congressional District for six terms, publicly endorsed former President Donald Trump this week. Deutsch, who served in the House from 1993 to 2005, cited his growing concerns over the Biden administration’s handling of global conflicts as the primary reason for his endorsement. “I feel very comfortable today publicly announcing that I’m endorsing Donald Trump to be reelected as president,” Deutsch said during a call organized by Trump’s campaign to mark the anniversary of the Hamas attacks on Israel. He further confirmed that he intends to vote for Trump in the upcoming election.
