It appears that even after the counting of the IDF votes, the Shas party remains with eight seats and will be the third largest party in the new Knesset. This will undoubtedly lead party chairman, Minister Aryeh Deri, to present Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu with a hefty list of demands regarding which cabinet portfolios and positions he seeks for party members.

The Israeli police opened an investigation on suspicion of stealing tons of sugar from the country’s emergency warehouses. The counting of the IDF votes is complete and it was announced that the New Right party headed by Naftali Bennet and Ayelet Shaked remains outside of the 21st Knesset, falling short of the required 3.25% of the vote, the minimum a party must received to be in Knesset.

The process of counting the remaining 270,000 votes, those of the IDF soldiers, hospitals and prisons continues on Thursday, with the results expected later in the day. The counting of these votes began on Wednesday night.
