Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has ordered the IDF to temporarily postpone sending draft notices to Charedi Yeshivah students, as political negotiations continue over legislation regulating the conscription of Charedi men.
The decision comes about a month after the High Court of Justice ruled that the long-standing exemption allowing Charedi men to defer mandatory military service must end. The court also ordered the cessation of state funding to Yeshivas during the interim period before new laws are enacted.

Dear Editor@Matzav.com,
I am absolutely furious with the outrageous tuition hikes imposed by yeshivos and schools in our frum community. These institutions are choking the life out of families who are already drowning in debt and struggling to make ends meet.
It is beyond comprehension that instead of engaging in traditional fundraising, the leaders of these schools have decided to burden parents even more.
Take for instance the recent move by a Lakewood girls’ elementary school, which informed parents that tuition for the 2024-2025 school year will skyrocket to a staggering $11,000.

On Tuesday evening, the commander of Israel’s Home Front Command issued an order to close off the Meron area in anticipation of the annual Hillula of Rav Shimon bar Yochai, traditionally celebrated in Meron on Lag Ba’Omer.
The closure order became effective at 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday and will remain in place until 12:00 p.m. next Monday.
The Home Front Command emphasized that access to the Meron area is strictly forbidden and urged the public to comply with the restrictions. Entry to the closed area is only allowed with proper legal permits.
“Arriving in the closed area without prior coordination and approval endangers public safety and human life,” stated the IDF.
Earlier this month, the IDF announced the cancellation of the annual Hillula in Meron.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ chief Jewish aide, Yoel Eisdorfer, is set to depart City Hall next month, according to a report from The Forward.
Eisdorfer, 43, a senior adviser and member of the Satmar kehillah in Borough Park, cited the demanding nature of the role and a desire to spend more time with his family as reasons for his decision to leave, as per the report.
He will continue to volunteer for Adams’ reelection campaign next year and will remain the chair of the mayor’s Jewish Advisory Council.
The Forward noted that Eisdorfer has played a key role in maintaining close ties between Israeli officials and Adams, a strong advocate for Israel. He was responsible for organizing the mayor’s first trip to Israel last August.
