Appearing Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) criticized the Democratic Party for not offering a clear plan for the future.
Host Kristen Welker opened the conversation by saying, “Let’s talk about what you have called your oligarchy, and Alexandria Ocasio Cortez have been criss-crossing the country warning of an oligarchy. Senator you told the New York Times, ‘One of the aspects of this is to get people to get engaged in the political process and run as independents outside of the Democratic Party.’ As someone who twice ran in the Democratic presidential primary are you trying to strengthen the Democratic Party or Senator, are you trying to start a third party?”

Appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday morning, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) declined to dismiss the idea of pursuing impeachment against President Donald Trump if Democrats succeed in retaking Congress.
During the interview, host Dana Bash asked, “Your colleague from Georgia, Senator Jon Ossoff told voters at a town hall that he strongly agrees that President Trump should be impeached. Do you agree with him? Would that be a priority if Democrats were to take back Congress?”

George Santos, once a rising figure in New York politics who rapidly fell from grace, was sentenced on Friday in his wide-ranging federal corruption case—and broke down in tears as the judgment was delivered.
U.S. District Judge Joanna Seybert sentenced Santos, the ex-congressman from Long Island, to seven years and three months in prison. He was also ordered to pay $373,000 in restitution. Santos had built his campaign on a foundation of fabrications and deception, and his lies eventually caught up with him in court.

He emphasized that military operations against Hamas would press on relentlessly. “The military pressure on Hamas will continue. We will bring back all the hostages. We will defeat Hamas and deny Iran nuclear weapons.”

During a podcast appearance on Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren tried — and failed — to defend past remarks she made about former President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline.
Fragoso asked if Warren regretted her statements about Biden.
“I said what I believed to be true,” Warren said.
“You think he was as sharp as you?” Fragoso pushed back.
“I said I had not seen decline,” she finally responded. “And I hadn’t at that point.”
Fragoso pressed Warren further.
“The thing is,” Warren began uncertainly. “Look, he was sharp. He was on his feet. I saw him… live event. I had meetings with him a couple of times…”

Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen confirmed over the weekend that the American taxpayers footed the bill for his trip to El Salvador to meet with deported alleged MS-13 gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
Van Hollen made the admission to Shannon Bream on Fox News Sunday.
When pressed by Bream about who paid for the trip, Van Hollen said it was an “officially cleared, you know, congressional trip.”
“So taxpayer dollars?” Bream questioned.
“Yes, like every other trip,” Van Hollen replied.
