A man who has allegedly kept his wife an Agunah for 17 years was arrested by the NYPD on Thursday afternoon. A number of years ago, the man married a second woman while still refusing to give his first wife a Get. Earlier this week, protestors began to gather outside his home, with hundreds attending each night demanding that he give a Get. Meanwhile, unbeknown to most people, the second wife and children were allegedly being severely abused. A voice note went viral on Thursday morning of the man violently abusing his wife and her children. The audio clip is simply too horrifying to publish on YWN. A community member who heard the clip reached out to the wife, and convinced her to press charges.

As he’s reeled from twin scandals over his treatment of women and COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has had to confront a once-unthinkable question: Could enough rogue Democrats combine with Republicans to force him out of office? A vocal group of mostly progressive Democrats has called for the governor to resign or be impeached as the crisis has deepened, joining with a core of Republicans who on Monday said they would propose articles of impeachment. Defections in the state Assembly, which has the authority to begin impeachment proceedings, had already been substantial Tuesday before a report late Wednesday about an aide who claimed she was groped in the governor’s residence.

A COVID-19 variant that was first detected in New York City now accounts for about 2 in 5 coronavirus cases in the city, suggesting that it spreads more easily than the older strain of the virus, city health officials said Wednesday. But the officials said they’ve seen no evidence that the New York City variant is deadlier or more vaccine resistant than earlier forms of the virus. Health Commissioner Dr. Dave Chokshi said data from the city’s pandemic response lab shows that the New York variant accounted for 39% of virus samples analyzed during the most recent week, up from 31% the week before. Chokshi said the variant first detected in the United Kingdom accounted for 12% of New York City cases, up from 8% the week before. “Viruses are wily.

So here we go again. Another week, another לוָי’ָ, another one of our brethren is gone. I know it sounds cliché but it’s really the truth. And what a family it is. Like any family that has aged over the last 50 years this should not be unexpected or come as a surprise. We have lost a number of our elders in recent years, many who have lived long and fulfilling lives, leaving behind the legacies of the early years as our founding fathers. Unfortunately, many of the recent losses have been tragic and untimely. Today, we accompanied Moshe to his final stop on the way to his seat next to the ריבונו של עולם where he will be rewarded for all of the lives he wasזוכה to have been able to save as well as for the countless people who he inspired while going through his own personal יסורים.

Shocking video shows the moment two New York City police officers were wounded ‒ and miraculously survived ‒ while answering a 911 call for a person shot in Brooklyn over the weekend, officials said. “This incident, I’m sure everybody could understand, could have been a lot worse,” Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison said Monday during a news conference. “By the grace of God, our heroic officers will be going home.” New York Police Department (NYPD) brass shared the harrowing footage of the attack from 9:15 p.m. Sunday, when three officers and one sergeant were responding to a report of a man shot at a Crown Heights apartment building, Harrison said.
