The Monsey Fire Department deployed numerous resources on Monday – but not for a fire. Instead, the response was for an intentional spill of foul-smelling sludge at the site of the planned Chabad Simchas Bais HaShoeiva at Monsey’s Park & Ride. The culprits? The notorious malcontents from the extremist “Neturei Karta” sect, who annually protest Chabad’s simchas bais hashoeiva at the site. As first reported by Monsey Scoop, Neturei Karta attempted to sabotage the event this year by spilling odorous chemicals at the Park & Ride, making the area unusable. Thankfully, despite Neturei Karta’s sickening move, the event will go on, thanks to the Monsey Fire Department and Town of Ramapo Highway Department.

Election signs of the “Ma’aminim B’Rishon” party in Rishon L’Tzion, headed by the religious and traditional representatives on the city council, were defaced on Sunday. The words “death to the religious” and “murderers” were scrawled across the signs. The party responded by stating: “Our signs were torn down and vandalized in the west of the city. It’s heartrending to see elements in the city trying to bring the battle here between the secular and the religious that takes place in other cities. A red line has been crossed with incitement to murder against the religious and traditional public in the city.” “We will not be dragged across this line.

What, in fact, do the protest organizations want? Senior political commentator Amit Segal expounded on the topic in his weekly column in Yediot Achranot – and explained why it is doomed to failure. According to Segal, “eliminating the legal reform was an ambitious goal of the protest organizations. It was almost fully achieved. But behind it is the real, much more ambitious, unprecedented goal: that the next government, unlike all 37 of its predecessors, will not include any religious party.” Avigdor Lieberman, Segal wrote, was the first to mark the goal back in February.

Over 50,000 people flocked to the Kosel on Monday morning, the second day of Chol Hamoed in Eretz Yisrael, for Birchas Kohanim. Due to the great demand, another Birchas Kohanim ceremony will be held on Wednesday morning. Like every year, the Western Wall Heritage Foundation erected Sukkos at the Kosel plaza for the benefit of the public and one of them has a set of arba minim in it for public use. Hundreds of police officers, Border Guard officers, and volunteers have been deployed throughout Jerusalem, with an emphasis on the Old City area, to ensure visitors’ safety throughout Sukkos.   (YWN Israel Desk – Jerusalem)

A Chol Hamoed screening of a film for frum women and girls in the Kiryat Menachem neighborhood of Jerusalem on Motzei Shabbos was “crashed” by secular members of the neighborhood who entered the room and sat among the women to prevent the event from taking place. A video of the provocative incident was posted by Haaretz reporter Yael Friedson, who wrote: “The men of the neighborhood came to a screening intended for women and girls and prevented the separate incident from taking place.” The video sparked a media storm, with secular and religious people alike expressing their outrage at the “protest.” Former IDF spokesman Avi Banyahu wrote: “Protest activists who come to segregated events and blow them up make me sick to my stomach.

In recent weeks, Elon Musk, founder of Tesla and SpaceX, has been embroiled in a heated dispute with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) regarding allegations of facilitating anti-Semitic content on his new social media platform, ‘X’. On Thursday, Musk took a unique approach to address these claims during a chat with frum conservative author, Ben Shapiro. Highlighting his personal connections to Jewish culture, he referred to himself as “pro-Semitic.” Musk shared that he attended a Jewish preschool in South Africa, and also mentioned the Hebrew origin of his name, Elon, which he said means “oak tree.” While discussing his Jewish ties, Musk humorously mused, “Now I don’t know if I’m sort of genetically Jewish or what. Maybe somewhere.

The leftist protesters who prevented Yom Kippur tefillos from taking place on erev Yom Kippur and Motzei Yom Kippur at Dizengoff Square in Tel Aviv, tearing down a makeshift mechitzah and engaging in clashes with the mispallelim, caused a religious “backlash” among Israelis who were horrified by the protesters’ display of hatred toward religion. Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Israelis, have warm feelings for Yiddishkeit even if they don’t live a fully religious lifestyle. In the days after Yom Kippur, many of these Israeli were mekabel mitzvos on themselves as a “protest” against the leftists. Yaniv Turgeman, 43, wrote on Twitter: “I’m a secular Israeli from Givatayim.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu recently warned that if Israel doesn’t close off its eastern border, it will not remain a Jewish state, Kan News reported. According to the report, Netanyahu said in a recent closed Cabinet meeting that Israel is one of the few countries in the world that has almost complete control over its borders. However, Netanyahu emphasized that Israel has one border that is not properly secured and that is its eastern border [with Jordan]. “If we don’t close the eastern border, there won’t be a Jewish state,” Netanyahu said. “The current refugee flow from Africa and Islamic countries is affecting all countries.” He cited Cyprus as an example, where 6-7% of the population is now Muslim.
