During a meeting that was held yesterday between the CEO of the Israel Health Ministry, Professor Chezi Levy, and the heads of the various health care providers (HMOs) in Israel, it was made clear that the first 4 million batches of the Pfizer vaccine against COVID-19 are set to arrive in Israel by the end of the month and the first Israelis will be able to receive the vaccine within 3-4 weeks. During the meeting, Levy asked the HMOs to prepare to begin administering the vaccines during the upcoming month. According to the estimates being spread around in the Israeli media, 80,000 doses of the vaccine will be given to each of the HMOs daily. This is after they will arrive at the logistics center for the country in Shoham.

Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah is relocating (or may have already relocated) to Iran due to security concerns according to a report by the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida, Yisrael Hayom reported on Thursday. As YWN reported on Tuesday, Nasrallah has been laying low since the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, fearing he may be the next in Israel’s crosshairs. The report cites intelligence sources in Lebanon that have intercepted communications between Hezbollah and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. It is unknown why Nasrallah feels that he should flee from his underground bunker in Beirut where he has hidden successfully since 2006, to Iran, which seems to be almost the second home of Israel’s Mossad. The first Jewish wedding in the United Arab Emirates was a Chareidi one that took place in Dubai on Monday night, Kikar H’Shabbos reported. The chassan, from a Charedi family from London, is a talmid of Yeshivas Medrash Shmuel in Jerusalem and the kallah is the daughter of a Rosh Mesivta in Medrash Shmuel. About 100 family members flew to Dubai from Israel, the UK and other countries to participate in the wedding at the Park Hyatt Dubai Hotel. The family made a decision to hold the wedding in Dubai since both Israel and England currently have strict restrictions on the number of participants allowed at gatherings. The mashpia Rav Mota Frank, who traveled to Dubai last week, served as the Mesader Kiddushin.

YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of the famed Mashgiach of the Mir Yerushalahim, Hagaon HaRav Aharon Chadash ZATZAL. He was 92. HaRav Chadash contracted COVID-19 in October and was hospitalized a few days later. His condition deteriorated and was placed on a ventilator until his Petira. The Mashgiach suffered from weakness and breathing issues in recent years (prior to the coronavirus pandemic) and walked around with an oxygen tank. He was also hospitalized many times due to weakness. Nevertheless, despite his weakness, HaRav Chadash had been Makpid to come to each and every Tefillah at the Mir with great Mesiras Nefesh. In later years he moved to an apartment next to the Yeshiva so it would be easier for him to come.

Progressive Democrats took aim at former President Barack Obama after he argued that political candidates alienate voters when they use “snappy” slogans such as “defund the police.” Obama made the comments during an interview with Peter Hamby on the Snapchat original political show “Good Luck America” that aired Wednesday morning. “You lost a big audience the minute you say it, which makes it a lot less likely that you’re actually going to get the changes you want done,” Obama said. “The key is deciding, do you want to actually get something done, or do you want to feel good among the people you already agree with?” is comments drew a sharp rebuke from several progressive Democrats such as anti-Semites Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib. “We lose people in the hands of police,” Rep.

President-elect Joe Biden appeared at a theater in downtown Wilmington, Delaware, moving gingerly in a black walking boot he’s worn since breaking his right foot while playing with one of his dogs over the weekend. The president-elect fractured two small bones in the middle of his right foot, according to Biden’s doctor, Kevin O’Connor. The injury, while not serious, again intensifies scrutiny on Biden’s age, given that he recently turned 78 and will be the oldest president ever to enter office when he is inaugurated. When asked about his foot when arriving at the theater, Biden declared only, “Good, thanks for asking.” (AP)
