B”hEvery parent dreams of watching their child grow up healthy and happy. For Racheli, that dream was shattered the moment her youngest daughter, Gitty, was born. Three years ago, Gitty came into the world with a rare combination of severe heart defects. From her very first breath, she was in danger. “She was so tiny,” recalls Racheli, her voice trembling. “We were told there was no option but to fly her to Boston immediately for surgery. She was just a month old.” Thanks to a complex operation overseas, Gitty survived. But survival came with a heavy price – emotionally, physically, and financially. A Life of Hospitals, Flights, and Fear Since that first surgery, the family has been living a life few could imagine.

In the shadow of heartbreak, a flicker of hope has emerged.
Just days after the horrific attack that claimed the life of Tzeela Gez (z”l), her family has announced the name of the child she never got to hold: Ravid Chaim.
His name carries a world of meaning — and a nation’s prayers.
“Ravid”, a name that Tzeela herself cherished, – a fitting tribute to the soul who gave so much light to the world. “Chaim”, meaning life, was added as a prayer — a cry from the depths of grief that this baby, born into sorrow, should live, grow, and thrive.

Yedidya Diena, a Toronto native and finance major, has been named the 2025 valedictorian of Touro University’s Lander College for Men (LCM). His academic journey reflects a blend of intellectual curiosity, personal discipline, and a strong commitment to values and growth. From an early age, Yedidya considered himself a “business-minded individual.” “I ran a few small businesses growing up, which helped me realize early on that I wanted to pursue a career in the business world,” he said. But it was during his time at LCM that he discovered his professional direction. “I wasn’t immediately sure which path to take, accounting or finance. After speaking with professors and exploring my options, I narrowed it down to finance,” he said.
