Rav Dov Landau, the rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Slabodka, recently met with relatives of those currently held hostage by Hamas in Gaza. During the meeting, he offered brachos to the families and discussed the ongoing efforts to secure the release of their loved ones.
Mishpacha Magazine released video footage from this meeting, in which Rav Landau was asked about Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu’s concerns regarding any deal that could potentially heighten security risks.
“I’m not a political person. Maybe if they had abducted the Prime Minister’s son, what would have he done?” Rav Landau wondered aloud.
This occasion marked the first time the rosh yeshiva has publicly addressed the situation.

Yeshivas Zahav Mordechai – Itri, located in the Beit Safafa neighborhood of Yerushalayim, primarily enrolls talmidim from religious high schools who transitioned to the yeshiva. Recently, with the issuance of draft notices, significant efforts have been made to ensure these talmidim do not report to the recruitment offices, in line with other bochurim in the Torah world.
Monday morning, journalist Yoely Brim revealed on Galei Tzahal in a discussion with Yair Kuzin and Ariel Kahana that a major controversy has erupted within the yeshiva. According to the report, the IDF has been arranging secret, individual agreements with chareidi yeshiva bochurim, unbeknownst to the yeshivas and their rabbeim.

In his final day as Israel’s Defense Minister, just before his official dismissal went into effect, Yoav Gallant approved a project that will add additional roofing at Ma’aras Hamachpeila, which will make the holy site more accessible.  After months of speculation, Gallant was fired by Prime Minister Netanyahu over disagreements regarding the war, hostage negotiations, and Charedi enlistment.

Noted badchan R’ Yonason Schwartz, CEO of Toys To Discover, recently discovered a concerning issue in a Williamsburg bais medrash: vapes and cigarettes are being sold openly on the premises, with little restriction on who can purchase them.
According to R’ Yonason, seen in the video below, the products are readily available, creating the possibility that young children, teens, and other impressionable youth have easy access to them.
R’ Yonason was shocked to find these items on sale in a space usually reserved for davening and learning. Recognizing the potential impact on local youth, he immediately raised the issue with those overseeing the shul.
