The federal government plans to fund and conduct the decisive studies of three experimental coronavirus vaccines starting this summer, according to a lead government vaccine researcher.
These phase 3 trials are expected to involve tens of thousands of subjects at dozens of sites around the U.S., John Mascola, director of the vaccine research center at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said. Meant to determine a vaccine’s safety and effectiveness, they would mark the final stage of testing.
Moderna Inc.’s MRNA -1.47% vaccine is set to be first, starting in July, followed in August by one co-developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca AZN 0.29% PLC and in September by Johnson & Johnson’s JNJ -0.55% , he said.

We Can and We Will

By Rav Y. Reuven Rubin
We have all been sharing challenging times of late. Hopefully, by the time this reaches you the lockdown will have eased a bit and perhaps our shuls will have been reopened to a safe extent. Still, we must all understand that this has not been for naught, a message sent without being understood is truly a huge loss.
During these weeks we have all had moments of upset, frayed nerves scraping at our souls, yet all this is from the Eibishter, and we must use our every fiber to grasp the moment and use it in bringing ourselves closer to Hashem.
“Wait a minute Rabbi, I’m no superstar, I’m just a Baal habos who is trying to push myself forward whilst keeping up with some sort of standard in my Yiddishkiet.”

Dear Editor,
Many Matzav.com readers witnessed, or at least heard, how an unarmed black man was brutally murdered by a bad cop. The exposure and graphic recounting of his murder transformed him into a martyr. He became a symbol in the fight against racial disparity. An outpouring of grief and outrage was expressed throughout the country. Many violent protests were staged in the “memory” of George Floyd. Countless people took to the streets, chanting his final words: “I can’t breathe.”
