At least two Palestinians were killed while constructing a bomb near Shechem on Tuesday evening. According to reports on Palestinian social networks, the bomb exploded in a weapons laboratory in the Balata “refugee camp.” A third terrorist was seriously wounded in the blast. The terrorists were members of the Islamic Jihad terror group, which announced the deaths in a statement on Tuesday night. Following the murderous attack in Eli on Tuesday, the IDF announced it will be bolstering security in the Shomron, with several additional battalions “in sensitive areas.” The new battalions are in addition to the increased forces in the area that were deployed over the past several weeks. Many reports indicate that Israel is facing an imminent operation in the Shomron.

Terrorists from the village of Silwad in Binyamin opened fire at IDF soldiers at a post near the entrance to the Ofra yishuv on Wednesday morning. The IDF forces returned fire at the terrorist who managed to escape the scene in their vehicle. B’Chasdei Hashem, there were no injuries among IDF forces. The IDF spokesperson said: “A report was received a short time ago about a shooting that was carried out at a military position near the Ofra intersection in the Binyamin Brigade. The IDF forces at the post returned fire. IDF forces are searching the area for suspects. There are no casualties.” Many reports indicate that Israel is facing an imminent operation in the Shomron. Left-wing candidates for the Jerusalem City Council joined the Women of the Wall group on Tuesday morning, Rosh Chodesh Tamuz, in a provocative political protest against the government at the Kosel and a campaign event for the upcoming Jerusalem City Council elections in October. Labor MK and Reform Rabbi Gilad Kariv also used his parliamentary immunity to bring a Sefer Torah into the Kosel plaza, which is a violation of Israeli law. The protest was attended by Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem Yossi Havilio, Jerusalem City Council and Meretz member Laura Wharton, Vice Chairman of the World Zionist Organization Yizhar Hess (as a representative of the Conservative movement), and Chairman of the Jerusalem Labor Party and a candidate for City Council Eran Ben-Yehuda.

A fire that started in a New York City e-bike shop early Tuesday spread to upper-floor apartments, killing four people and injuring several others, authorities said. City fire officials said the blaze was reported shortly after midnight on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in a six-story building that houses HQ E-Bike Repair. A pile of burned bikes and other debris was seen on the sidewalk outside the building. Two men and two women died and two other women were hospitalized in critical condition, officials said. A firefighter suffered minor injuries, authorities said. The cause of the fire was under investigation. Electric bikes have become popular, non-gasoline-burning ways to make deliveries, commute and zip around a city that has promoted cycling in recent decades.
