Dozens of Israelis quarantined in a hotel in Jerusalem after returning from abroad tried to break out on Monday night, Israeli media reports said. Conflict ensued at the entrance to the Leonardo Hotel as security guards forced them back inside. A similar “revolt” took place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Jerusalem. The Israeli government approved an order last week forcing all Israelis returning abroad to quarantine in hotels upon returning to Israel following the discovery of the new British COVID variant. However, the policy is reportedly not being fully enforced, with only a small percentage of returning travelers actually being sent to hotels. An Army Radio report said that out of 2,100 people who landed at Ben-Gurion on Sunday-Monday, only 600 went to quarantine hotels.

Israel Police released a video on Monday showing officers from Yamam (Israel’s National Counter-terrorism Unit) arresting the terrorist suspected of the murder of Esther Horgan last week near Tel Menashe. The footage, recorded by the helmet cameras of the Yamam officers, shows the officers carrying out searches in the Palestinian village of Toura near Jenin. The officers then enter the home of the suspect and arrest him. The arrest, carried out on Thursday, was a joint operation by Israel Police, the IDF and Border Police.

The man believed to be responsible for the Christmas Day bombing that tore through downtown Nashville blew himself up in the explosion, and appears to have acted alone, federal officials said Sunday. Investigators used DNA and other evidence to link the man, identified as Anthony Quinn Warner, to the mysterious explosion but said they have not determined a motive. Officials have received hundreds of tips and leads, but have concluded that no one other than Warner is believed to have been involved in the early morning explosion that damaged dozens of buildings and injured three people. The governor said the state was investigating an incident of possible vaccination fraud, in a situation where a health care provider wasn’t following the priority population process. “Vaccines are valuable and there will be people who break the law and were looking at one health care provider who may have done that,” Gov. Cuomo said. “We want to send a clear signal to the providers that if you violate the law on these vaccinations, we will find out and you will be prosecuted.

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is considering another run for president in 2024, even if it means challenging a Donald Trump comeback bid. “I would not rule it out,” Christie told radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt in an interview on Monday, when asked specifically if he would run — even if that put him up against Trump. Christie frequently refers to his decades-long friendship with Trump, and has stood by the president’s side despite repeated snubs over the last four years. But he made clear in his interview with Hewitt that he disagreed with how Trump was handling his loss to President-elect Joe Biden, and was keeping his options open whether Trump sought a second term or not. “If I go and look up Christie2024, will that URL already be reserved?” Hewitt asked Christie.
