An IDF soldier was killed in an accident involving an IDF vehicle in the area of Har Dov in the Golan Heights on Wednesday morning. An IDF officer who was a passenger in the vehicle sustained moderate head injuries. As can be seen in the attached video, the vehicle lost control and plunged off a steep embankment. The dead soldier has been identified by the military as 20-year-old Sahar Algazar, from the southern Israeli community of Ranen. (YWN World Headquarters – NYC)

At least nine people were shot Tuesday evening near the Rhodes Funeral Home at 79th and Carpenter streets in the South Side. Police confirmed multiple people were shot, but the exact number was not known as many of the victims fled, or were transported by car to hospitals. Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said the fire department has transported 11 people from the scene in total, while others were self-transported to various hospitals. Police said nine people have been transported from the scene in serious or critical condition. Residents in the area reported hearing gunshots before seeing victims in the street outside of the funeral home. DEVELOPING STORY

A woman was arrested by the NYPD after she was allegedly attacking people with a hammer on a busy Manhattan street on Tuesday morning. A video posted on Twitter, shows a woman being held down by the NYPD near Rockefeller Center. Rapper Kanye West, in his first event since declaring himself a presidential candidate, ranted against historical figure Harriet Tubman on Sunday, saying the Underground Railroad conductor “never actually freed the slaves, she just had them work for other white people,” comments that drew shouts of opposition from some in the crowd. Israel’s Health Ministry reported 1,414 new coronavirus cases in the previous 24 hours, raising the number of active patients to 27,729. The number of seriously ill patients has surged to 238 and the number of ventilated patients has jumped to 62. Six more deaths were recorded overnight, raising the death toll to 406. Prof. Gavriel Barbash, the former CEO of Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv and former Health Ministry Director-General, is expected to be appointed as Israel’s coronavirus commissioner to manage the coronavirus crisis, Channel 12 News reported on Sunday, adding that an agreement has not yet been signed but is in its final stages.

One of the two men arrested for attacking an NYPD lieutenant and NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan was released without bail Thursday night, with the judge granting him supervised release. Police identified him as 25-year-old Quran Campbell. The second suspect, Banks Shaborn, also 25, was being held on $10,000 bail. A senior police official called these developments “stunning.” “Quran Campbell is captured on video for the nation to witness him viciously assault 3 cops in uniform – 1 who lost consciousness. Judge Robert Rosenthal’s reckless decision to release Mr. Campbell WITHOUT BAIL endangers every NYer and the officers who risk it all to protect them,” Monahan posted Friday morning on Twitter.

Two serious incidents occurred in Manhattan just blocks away from each other on Thursday. At around 4:30PM emergency personnel responded to 136 East 26th Street near Lexington Avenue for a scaffolding collapse. According to FDNY officials, one worker was killed and two others were injured. It did not appear that any pedestrians were hurt. The Fire Department said the injured people were taken to the hospital. It was unclear what led to the scaffolding collapse. The apartment building dates to the 1920s, city records show. Building manager Halstead Real Estate said it was saddened by the collapse, and that it was under investigation.

Three maintenance workers at a summer getaway overdosed in Kiamisha on Thursday afternoon. It happened just after 4:00PM at the Munkatcher Camp on Route 42, when the three men suffered a drug overdose. Catskills Hatzolah Paramedics was on the scene in minutes and began administering Narcan to all three victims. Two of the victims were in cardiac arrest. MobileMedics were requested to respond to assist Hatzolah with transporting the victims to the hospital. The Sullivan County Sheriff Department was on the scene investigating. The Chevra Kaddisha was not needed in this tragic incident. The camp is a bungalow colony with a day camp on premises.
