New York City police fatally shot a man Tuesday night in Brooklyn in an incident that did not appear connected to protests elsewhere in the city. Officers responding around 10 p.m. to a report of shots fired at a public housing complex in Crown Heights found a man who had been shot and another man with a gun hiding behind a fence, a police spokesperson said. The man allegedly pointed the gun at officers and they opened fire. As many as 10 officers shot at him, the spokesperson said. Chief of Department Terence Monahan tweeted “an illegal gun was recovered at the scene.” An NYPD investigation into the shooting will include a review of footage from the officers’ body-worn cameras.

Most of the looters and rioters arrested by the NYPD over the past several days are immediately released as a direct result of New York’s new bail-reform law, New York City police chief Terrence Monahan told the New York Post on Tuesday. While the city police made over 650 arrests on Monday night alone, Monahan said that “just about all of them” will be released without bail. “We had some arrests in Brooklyn where they had guns, [and] hopefully [Brooklyn district attorney] Eric Gonzalez will keep them in, [but] I can’t guarantee that’ll happen,” Monahan said. “But when it comes to a burglary [at] a commercial store, which is looting, they’re back out. . . . Because of bail reform, you’re back out on the street the next day. You cannot be held on any sort of bail.

Veteran Hamodia reporter Reuvain Borchardt received a shocking response from the failing NYC Mayor Deblasio. QUESTION: While you’ve recommended that protestors stay home, for others in the city, you’ve enforced gathering bans, not recommendations. The retail store owner who has been closed for two months and is experiencing financial ruin has been banned from opening his store. People for whom attending houses of worship are a regular part of life been have banned from doing so with more than 10 people. Now, you’ve expressed solidarity with this particular protest cause. Is that why it’s been given dispensation to disregard all pandemic guidelines? I know you were asked about this yesterday.

A vehicle plowed through a group of law enforcement officers at a George Floyd demonstration Monday night in Buffalo, injuring at least two. Video posted by a bystander shows a line of police officers, backed up by an armored personnel carrier, rushing and tackling a man who was being interviewed by a man with a TV camera about 9:30 p.m. Other officers used batons to whack at protesters, who scattered. Moments later, there was the sound of firearms discharging off camera, then officers ran as an SUV barreled through a cluster of officers. At least one appeared to go under the vehicle’s wheels. The SUV drove around an armored vehicle and sped off as more gunfire sounded. The officers were taken to Erie County Medical Center and authorities said their condition was stable.

President Trump said during a statement in the Rose Garden on Monday that he is “taking immediate action” and “mobilizing all available federal resources” to stop riots and looting across the country, threatening to deploy the military if states don’t send in the National Guard to protests. “I have recommended every governor deploy the National Guard in sufficient numbers to dominate the streets,” the president said during his speech. “We are ending riots and lawlessness, we will end it today.” Trump said he is dispatching “thousands and thousands of heavily armed soldiers and military personnel” to stop the rioting. “I want organizers of this terror to be on notice that you will face severe criminal penalties,” he said.

Florida: Polk County Sheriff Grady said there were rumblings on social media that rioters planned to bring violence into the neighborhoods of Polk County. “I would tell them, if you value your life, they probably shouldn’t do that in Polk County. Because the people of Polk County like guns, they have guns, I encourage them to own guns, and they’re going to be in their homes tonight with their guns loaded, and if you try to break into their homes to steal, to set fires, I’m highly recommending they blow you back out of the house with their guns. So, leave the community alone,” Judd said. (YWN World Headquarters – NYC)

Mayor Bill de Blasio on Monday called for an NYPD officer to be stripped of his gun and badge after video showed him pulling his gun on a crowd of protesters. In the video, the NYPD officer charges at protesters in the middle of an intersection, raises his gun and threateningly swings it around from side to side as people scream and run away. The incident reportedly happened around 10 p.m. near East 12th Street and Broadway in Manhattan. Speaking at a news conference Monday morning, de Blasio said the scene looked “chaotic” but the officer’s actions were “unacceptable and dangerous.” he added the officer should have his gun and badge taken away immediately.
