On Thursday, CBS News reported that two ambulances and multiple vans apparently full of Secret Service officers had been spotted leaving Mar-a-Lago.  Additional reports came in of helicopters hovering above the resort before the ambulances were spotted leaving the site.
The reports promoted concern for Trump’s health and safety, however the Secret Service and Trump’s transition team quickly confirmed that there was no health emergency, and the ambulances spotted were a routine part of Vice President-elect JD Vance’s motorcade.
With President-Elect Trump twice being a target of assassination attempts this year, many are on edge and alert for any sign of trouble with the next President.

The Israel Defense Forces is constructing a security fence surrounding the new road that bypasses the central Samaria terrorist hotspot of Huwara, the military told reporters on Wednesday.
The decision to erect a fence around the new highway, which was opened only a year ago, was taken in response to repeated stone-throwing attacks from Arab villages, HaKol HaYehudi reported.
“The decision to construct a fence around Huwara was made in accordance with security considerations and provides additional protection to residents of the Samaria sector,” the IDF said. “The IDF works defensively and offensively to counter terrorism in the Samaria area and to maintain the safety of the citizens.”

Australia’s communications minister introduced a world-first law into Parliament on Thursday that would ban children younger than 16 from social media, saying online safety was one of parents’ toughest challenges. Michelle Rowland said TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat, Reddit, X and Instagram were among the platforms that would face fines of up to 50 million Australian dollars ($33 million) for systemic failures to prevent young children from holding accounts. “This bill seeks to set a new normative value in society that accessing social media is not the defining feature of growing up in Australia,” Rowland told Parliament.

President-elect Donald Trump on Thursday named Pam Bondi, the former attorney general of Florida, to be U.S. attorney general just hours after his other choice, Matt Gaetz, withdrew his name from consideration. Bondi is a longtime Trump ally and was one of his lawyers during his first impeachment trial, when he was accused — but not convicted — of abusing his power as he tried to condition U.S. military assistance to Ukraine on that country investigating then-former Vice President Joe Biden. Bondi was among a group of Republicans who showed up to support Trump at his hush money criminal trial in New York that ended in May with a conviction on 34 felony counts. She’s been a chair at the America First Policy Institute, a think tank set up by former Trump administration staffers.

President-elect Donald Trump is reportedly considering former Secret Service agent and ex-Fox News host Dan Bongino to lead the U.S. Secret Service in his upcoming administration, according to a CNN report. The move would mark a return to federal law enforcement for Bongino, who served as a Secret Service agent from 1999 to 2011 after beginning his career as a New York Police Department officer. Bongino’s name is said to be on a shortlist that includes Sean Curran, head of Trump’s current security detail, and Robert Engel, the former head of his detail who was with Trump during the events of January 6, 2021. Bongino has a complex political history, having transitioned from law enforcement to politics and media.

President Joe Biden has criticized the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) decision to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, labeling the move as “outrageous.” “Let me be clear once again: whatever the ICC might imply, there is no equivalence—none—between Israel and Hamas. We will always stand with Israel against threats to its security,” Biden declared in his first official response to the ICC’s controversial decision. The ICC, based in The Hague, announced Thursday that it had approved arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant on suspicion of war crimes, along with a warrant for Hamas military leader Mohammed Deif, whose death from an IDF airstrike remains unconfirmed by Hamas.

Just a few weeks ago, the path ahead for the Federal Reserve looked straightforward: With inflation cooling and the job market slowing, the Fed appeared on track to steadily cut interest rates. In September, its officials predicted that they would reduce their benchmark rate four times next year, on top of three rate cuts this year. Yet that outlook has swiftly changed. Several surprisingly strong economic reports, combined with President-elect Donald Trump’s policy proposals, have led to a decidedly more cautious tone from the Fed that could mean fewer cuts and higher interest rates than had been expected. Fewer rate cuts would likely mean continued high mortgage rates and other borrowing costs for consumers and businesses. Auto loans would remain expensive.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has said that he drinks raw milk and has criticized the Food and Drug Administration over its “aggressive suppression” of products such as raw milk, which he suggested “advances human health.”
The nation’s health agencies have warned against this claim by Kennedy, President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to head the Department of Health and Human Services. “Unpasteurized milk can pose a serious health risk,” the FDA has said, and “raw milk can be a source of foodborne illness,” the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said.
We asked food scientists questions about raw milk and the pasteurization process.

On Thursday, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced at a cabinet meeting his intention to seriously consider preventing the transfer of tax revenue that Israel collects to the PA next month, after the ICC issued arrest warrants for Prime Minister Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
This is not the first time Smotrich has threatened to cut off tranfers to the PA, a move which could cause major harm to the Palestinian economy, and an idea that faced serious backlash from the US. In the end, Smotrich agreed to allow the transfers in exchange for settlement recognition in Yehuda and Shomron.
This time, after the ICC issued it’s arrest warrants, and with the incoming Trump administration in January, Smotrich may not hold off.

President-elect Donald Trump announced Thursday that Pam Bondi, Florida’s former attorney general, will be his choice to head the Justice Department. This came shortly after Matt Gaetz, who was originally tapped for the role, withdrew from consideration earlier the same day.
“For too long, the partisan Department of Justice has been weaponized against me and other Republicans – Not anymore,” Trump, 78, said in a statement on Truth Social. “Pam will refocus the DOJ to its intended purpose of fighting Crime, and Making America Safe Again. I have known Pam for many years — She is smart and tough, and is an AMERICA FIRST Fighter, who will do a terrific job as Attorney General!”

The U.S. leads the world in developing artificial intelligence technology, surpassing China in research and other important measures of AI innovation, according to a newly released Stanford University index. There’s no surefire way to rank global AI leadership but Stanford researchers have made an attempt by measuring the “vibrancy” of the AI industry across various dimensions, from how much research and investment is happening to how responsibly the technology is being pursued to prevent harm. “The gap is actually widening” between the U.S. and China, said computer scientist Ray Perrault, director of the steering committee that runs Stanford’s AI Index. “The U.S.

Bitcoin topped $98,000 for the first time Thursday, extending a streak of almost daily all-time highs since the U.S. presidential election. The cryptocurrency has rocketed more than 40% in just two weeks. Now, bitcoin is at the doorstep of $100,000 and investors do not appear to be phased by gravity or any cautionary tales of the cryptocurrencies history of volatility. Cryptocurrencies and a handful of related investments like crypto exchange-traded funds have rallied because the incoming Trump administration is expected to be more “crypto-friendly” than the outgoing Biden administration. As of around 10 a.m. ET, bitcoin traded at $97,014 after rising as high as $98,349 according to CoinDesk. Yet cryptocurrency markets remain a wild place and what comes next is impossible to know.
