Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin is facing fierce backlash after a clip from her podcast went viral, featuring an inflammatory claim that Republicans “want to kill your kids.” “You have to boil it down to nuts and bolts, and you have to be pithy. What do I mean by pithy? How about this: Republicans want to kill your kids. It’s actually true,” Rubin said during the episode. She justified the statement by referencing Republican positions on vaccines, medical research, and gun policies, arguing that these stances endanger children. “If you’re going to oppose vaccinations, stop breakthrough medical research, and allow minors to get semiautomatic weapons — which they use to shoot up schools — well then, you are responsible for kids’ health and death,” she continued.

A ballistic missile fired at Israel by Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists in Yemen activated air-raid sirens in the Gush Etzion region of Judea and the Dead Sea area on Thursday night, the Israel Defense Forces said.
“Following the sirens that sounded in the areas of Judea and the Dead Sea, one launch that was approaching from Yemen towards Israeli territory was intercepted by the Israeli Air Force prior to crossing into Israeli territory,” the military confirmed in a statement on social media.
Alerts were activated in the Gush Etzion communities of Tekoa, Pnei Kedem, Nokdim, Ma’ale Rehav’am, Ma’aleh Amos, Metzad and Kfar Eldad, as well as in Ein Gedi and Mitzpe Shalem near the Dead Sea, sending thousands of Israeli civilians running for bomb shelters.

Ukraine claimed Thursday that Russia launched an intercontinental ballistic missile overnight at one of its cities. If confirmed, it would be the first time Moscow has used such a weapon in the war. Ukraine did not provide any evidence that an ICBM was used in the attack on the central city of Dnipro, apparently armed with conventional warheads. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said a missile used “matches the speed and altitude” of an ICBM. The Kremlin refused to comment on the strike. The attack comes in a week when tensions have repeatedly soared, as the U.S. eased restrictions on Ukraine’s use of American-made longer-range missiles inside Russia and Russian President Vladimir Putin lowered the threshold for launching nuclear weapons.

Israel’s most senior citizen marked her 110th birthday this week with a heartfelt celebration organized by the staff at Netanya’s Laniado Hospital.
Born in 1914 in Kraśnik, Poland, Tzila Cohen immigrated to pre-state Israel alone in 1936. A well-known figure in Netanya, she is celebrated as part of the city’s founding generation. In 1958, she participated in the cornerstone-laying ceremony for the Kiryat Sanz neighborhood, where Laniado Hospital now stands.

Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley sharply criticized President-elect Donald Trump’s decision to nominate Tulsi Gabbard as the director of national intelligence during her Wednesday SiriusXM program, Nikki Haley Live. Haley questioned Gabbard’s suitability for the role, citing her foreign policy stances and accusing her of sympathizing with adversaries such as Russia, Iran, Syria, and China. “The director of national intelligence is a job for an honest broker without any pronounced policy biases,” Haley said. “Tulsi Gabbard is a Russian, Iranian, Syrian, Chinese sympathizer.” Haley’s remarks centered on Gabbard’s foreign policy positions during her time in Congress and her 2020 Democratic presidential campaign.

A Man of Many Dimensions How does one capture the essence of a man who contained multitudes? A scholar who completed Shas forty times, yet remained humble enough to laugh with children. A leader who carried the weight of communal responsibility, yet made each person feel as though they were the only one who mattered. A father and grandfather, Rebbe and Rabbi, whose pride in his family, his students, and congregants radiated like sunshine, warming all who came near.

A mysterious by-product of a chemical used to disinfect the tap water of about one-third of Americans has finally been identified, and the international research team behind the discovery is advocating rapid assessment of its potential toxicity.
The research, reported Thursday in the journal Science, does not claim that tap water containing the by-product is unsafe to drink or that the finding represents any kind of emergency. All water, including bottled water, contains contaminants.

For about 50 years, adding cavity-preventing fluoride to drinking water was a popular public health measure in Yorktown, a leafy town north of New York City. But in September, the town’s supervisor used his emergency powers to stop the practice. The reason? A recent federal judge’s decision that ordered U.S. regulators to consider the risk that fluoride in water could cause lower IQ in kids. “It’s too dangerous to look at and just say ‘Ah, screw it. We’ll keep going on,’” said the town supervisor, Ed Lachterman. Yorktown isn’t alone. The decision to add fluoride to drinking water rests with state and local officials, and fights are cropping up nationwide.

IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi launched an investigation on Thursday following the severe incident in which 71-year-old Ze’ev Erlich, H’YD, was killed by terrorists in southern Lebanon on Wednesday. A 20-year-old soldier was killed in the incident and two officers were wounded, one seriously and one moderately. The encounter with the terrorists occurred in an area under IDF control since earlier operations, an area 5-6 kilometers from the border, overlooking Tyre. Erlich, z’l was armed and wearing protective gear but according to the IDF, he was classified as a civilian and his presence there violated military orders. The two fallen soldiers began to survey an ancient fortress near a mosque at a high point on a ridge, unaware that two terrorists were hiding there.

The Israel Defense Forces detained a Syrian who crossed into the Jewish state’s territory in the Golan Heights on Thursday, the IDF announced.
According to the Israeli military, the suspect individual “did not stop in response to calls by soldiers, was shot in the leg and transferred to Ziv Medical Center in Safed for further treatment and investigation.”
Ynet reported that the suspect crossed into the Israeli side of the Alpha Line, which marks the demilitarized zone between the two countries. He reportedly did not breach the Israeli security fence in the area.
