Police have arrested Ron Reeder, 52, in connection with the fatal shooting of 46-year-old Jermaine Dixon in Queens in September 2021. Reeder, who was dressed in Hasidic-style clothes at the time of the shooting, was apprehended in New Jersey in late February and extradited to New York on Thursday to face charges of murder and weapons offenses. The shooting took place on South Conduit Avenue near 132nd Street in South Ozone Park, Queens. Dixon was shot at point-blank range and died shortly after. The gunman had attempted to steal the $10,000 in cash that Dixon had on him, but he ran away before he could take the money. According to law enforcement sources, the shooter and another person had been keeping watch for several hours before Dixon arrived at his car, at which point they ambushed him. Reeder was arrested on February 23rd when the Bergen County Regional SWAT Team and the NYPD raided his apartment on Teaneck Road. He is also facing additional charges of drug offenses, identity theft, and financial crimes as part of a separate criminal case in New Jersey.
