A terror cell in the Gaza Strip planning major terror attacks in Israel, including a shooting attack in Jerusalem in the coming days, was uncovered in recent weeks, the Shin Bet revealed on Tuesday morning. A joint operation by the IDF, the Shin Bet and Israel Police uncovered the terror cell, led by two residents of Rafah, a city in the southern Gaza Strip. Ayman Youssef Yosef Khalik Zakut, 31, and Mohammad Zabri Aram, 40, are members of the Popular Resistance Committees, a terrorist organization funded by Hamas and Hezbollah. According to the Shin Bet, Zakut and Aram recruited Palestinians in Yehudah and Shomron and provided them with training and weapons to carry out attacks against Israeli targets. Two Arabs from Yehudah and Shomron, who were arrested recently for suspected crimes on behalf of the terror cell, confessed that they received instructions and a gun to carry out a major shooting attack in Jerusalem in the coming days. Last month, two brothers, residents of Yehudah and Shomron, were arrested after being supected of having been recruited to carry out a bomb attack in Israel.
