A granddaughter has been born to the the esteemed Mashgiach of Mir, HaTzaddik Rav Binyamin Finkel. The new arrival is the first daughter of his son, Rav Yosef Finkel, a distinguished yungerman in the Orchos Yosher Kollel in Bnei Brak. The baby girl was born on Friday night at the Ma’ayanai Hayeshuah Hospital in Bnei Brak.
It is the couple’s first baby after ten years of marriage.
In honor of the occasion, Rav Yosef got an aliyah on Shabbos at the Minyan Avreichim in the Pardes Katz neighborhood of Bnei Brak, under the leadership of Rav Yaakov Weinfeld. Hundreds of congregants warmly approached him to offer their mazel tov brachos.
The baby was named Mina after Reb Yosef’s late mother, Rebbetzin Mina A”H, wife of Rav Binyamin Finkel.
There is a remarkable bracha associated with the birth. Last Pesach, Rav Binyamin and his son, Reb Yosef, visited the Ponovezh Rosh Yeshiva, Rav Dovid Povarsky. At that time, the gabbai, Rabbi Yosef Strauss, introduced Reb Yosef to the Rosh Yeshiva, sharing that Reb Yosef had been married for many years without children. Rabbi Strauss requested a special bracha from the Rosh Yeshiva for a child in the coming year. Rav Povarsky, with a deep and heartfelt gesture, took Reb Yosef’s hand in both of his and blessed him, “With Hashem’s help, next year you will have a child.” WATCH THAT EXCHANGE:
