Draft notifications were issued to chareidim on Sunday evening via text messages, instructing them to report to the Recruitment Office for their initial draft order.
An investigation by Arutz Sheva revealed that these notifications were sent to 25-year-old chareidim, including both single and married individuals, as well as some who are studying in yeshiva.
The notifications appeared to target those who are employed, even if they are balancing work with yeshiva studies. Furthermore, recipients with cell phones received the draft notifications through text messages.
This morning, the IDF dispatched approximately one thousand draft orders to chareidi young adults, aged 18-26. Over the next few weeks, two additional batches of around one thousand orders each will be sent, aiming to increase the number of chareidim serving in the IDF to about 4,800 soldiers.
On Thursday, the Minister of Defense approved the IDF’s recommendation to issue the initial orders, assuming they would be distributed in three batches. After each batch, conclusions will be drawn to improve the subsequent one.
Gallant also mentioned that the method for sending the next two draft cycles will be based on the response of the chareidi community in the upcoming recruitment cycle.
The IDF prepared for the distribution of the draft orders and noted that success will be measured by the number of young adults who actually report as summoned. Fifty percent of the orders will be sent to candidates up to age 21, 40% to those aged 22-23, and 10% to those aged 24-26.
“If we manage to recruit another battalion of chareidim, this will save the operational deployment of ten reserve battalions that will not have to report to the IDF,” estimated military officials.
