Can you fathom the pain of seeing your neighbor oxygen level drop to dangerously low levels?
Can you dream of seeing your friend go into cardiac arrest?
Can you imagine what it’s like to try and reassure a family that everything will be ok, when deep down you know that you may be taking their father, mother, husband, wife, son or daughter on the last trip of their life?
Probably not.
Lakewood’s dedicated Hatzolah members do the unimaginable every single day, but the last few weeks have brought about trauma like never before.
But, that didn’t stop these heroes. When we were all running away from the virus, secluded in our homes, Hatzollah members were running right into the lion’s den. They faced COVID-19 head on. Why? If you ask them, they’ll tell you that it’s their job. That’s just what they do. But if you ask yourself – it’s because they’re true heroes.
When we call them, they never say no. When we call them, they never delay. Can you imagine a Hatzolah member responding to a call of a 39 year old, having difficulty breathing, “I’ll help, don’t worry, but now I’m busy…,”? Of course not! Please respond in kind, and show your care, now, without delay.
