On Friday, a poignant event took place in Meron as an upsherin was performed on three-year-old Dovid Aharon Diskind, son of Reb Shmuel Binyamin Diskind z”l, who tragically passed away in the Meron tragedy of 5781.
At the location where his father z”l perished, extended family members gathered, along with Reb Meir Nachman Elchadad, who tragically lost his two sons, Moshe Mordechai, aged 12, and Yosef Dovid z”l, aged 18, in the same tragedy.
At the site, the hair of Dovid Aharon was cut.
Reb Shmuel Binyamin was a Gerer Chossid from Ramat Beit Shemesh Gimmel. He is remembered for his deep dedication to limud haTorah, spending hours every day immersed in learning.
On Lag BaOmer in 5781, he traveled to his grandparents’ home in Haifa and from there continued to the site of Kever Rashbi in Meron. That was the first time in his life – and also the last, tragically – that he visited Meron on Lag BaOmer.
