The home of Rav Dov Kook, the Tzaddik of Tiveriah, has been completely demolished and is set to be rebuilt in preparation for his recovery.
This renovation comes as part of efforts to aid Rav Kook’s recovery following his hospitalization, which occurred after a health scare linked to the recent public desecration of Shabbos in the city.
As reported on Matzav.com previously, two weeks ago, Rav Kook collapsed during Shacharis on Shabbos, at the time when chillul Shabbos was taking place openly in the city. Rav Kook, who had previously warned that the chillul Shabbos was endangering his health, initially refused to be taken to the hospital. It was only by Sunday afternoon, after his close associates coordinated with hospital staff, that he agreed to go to the medical center in the North, where he underwent surgery to repair his hip.
Since that Shabbos, Rav Kook has been enduring significant pain and is currently undergoing a complex rehabilitation process at his home, which is located next to the Beis Medrash of his yeshiva. Due to the anticipated prolonged recovery, close talmidim and family members initiated an extensive renovation of his long-standing, iconic room adjoining the Beis Medrash. This room, where Rav Kook has welcomed tens of thousands of Jews from all walks of life over the years for brachos, advice, and counsel, was torn down in preparation for the construction of a new, spacious and dignified space for the rov.

In recent days, Rav Kook’s room, along with the surrounding rooms, were completely demolished to make way for the new structure. The funding for the renovation has been provided by one of Rav Kook’s close talmidim, with contributions from Torah philanthropists in the U.S. and Canada, who made it possible to build a new, magnificent residence in honor of Rav Kook.
Rav Kook’s son, Rav Shmuel Kook, is closely overseeing the renovation work.
In a unique gesture to support Rav Kook’s recovery, a special goat was brought to his property to continue his longstanding practice of drinking milk directly from the goat. Rav Kook has customarily visited a goat farm each night to drink milk, which constitutes a significant part of his nourishment these days. Given his inability to go to the farm during his rehabilitation, the goat has now been brought to his home, allowing him to maintain his routine even during this challenging time.
