The health of the Vizhnitzer Rebbe of Bnei Brak, Rav Yisroel Hager, who is currently in Los Angeles for medical treatment, has shown notable improvement, according to sources in the Vizhnitzer kehillah.
The Rebbe is expected to be hospitalized this Friday—on Purim itself—in preparation for a medical procedure scheduled for Monday at a Los Angeles hospital.
In a recorded message sent to thousands of chassidim, Vizhnitzer leaders shared the encouraging update, attributing the improvement to the heartfelt tefillos of Klal Yisroel. They urged the public to continue davening for the Rebbe’s refuah, particularly on Ta’anis Esther and Purim.
A special tefillah gathering will be held tonight, the eve of the fast, at the Vizhnitzer beis medrash in Bnei Brak, led by the Rebbe’s sons and the chassidus’s senior rabbanim.
As mentioned, Chassidim have been informed that the Rebbe’s postponed surgery is now scheduled for Monday, after being delayed several weeks due to his weakened state.
Despite the Rebbe’s absence, the Vizhnitzer kehillah is continuing with Purim celebrations, in accordance with his directive that the chassidim should maintain the simcha of the Yom Tov. On Thursday night, Purim, the Mishteh Hayayin gathering will take place from 10:00 PM until 12:30 AM, led by the Rebbe’s eldest son, Rav Chaim Meir Hager. Following the gathering, chassidim will visit the kevorim of previous Vizhnitz Rebbes for tefillos. On Friday, Purim day, another Mishteh Hayayin will be held from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
On Motzaei Shabbos of Purim Meshulash, the main Purim celebration for the Vizhnitzer kehillah will be held at the central beis medrash at 9:00 PM, featuring the traditional Purim Shpiel, led by Rav Chaim Meir Hager.
Thousands of chassidim have sent kvittlach 0 written requests for brachos – which will be presented to the Rebbe in Los Angeles.
