It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the petirah of the Lizhensker Rebbe, Rav Elimelech Shiff zt”l. He was 75.
The rebbe was born in Yerushalayim, a son of Rav Elazar Moshe Avrohom Shiff and was named after Rav Elimelech of Lizhensk.
In his childhood, he learned at Mosdos Belz in Yerushalayim.
He married his wife, a daughter of Rav Yitzchak Eizik Schwartz, a respected elder Belzer chossid.
After his wedding, he served as a rebbi Talmud Torah Machzikei Hadas-Belz.
About thirty years ago, he moved to the Ramot neighborhood of Yerushalayim, where he established the Lizhensker Bais Medrash.
For several years, he resided in the Belz Yeshiva area in Ramot and served as a R”M there.
In recent years, he resided in Kiryas Biala.
He suffered greatly in recent years from illness and pain, and he passed away last night.
The levayah was held this morning at the Sanhedria Bais Halevayos in Yerushalayim, passing the belzer Bais Medrash en route to Har Hamenuchos for kevurah there.
Yehi zichro boruch.
