Otzma Yehudit MK Yitzchak Kroizer caused an uproar on Monday morning when he suggested that the Jews who rioted in Huwara were inspired by the anti-judicial reform protests. “I have to point out that the rioters were perhaps inspired by a month and a half of [anti-judicial] protests,” Kroizer said during a meeting of the Knesset’s Consitution, Law, and Justice Committee, raising the fury of opposition members. After the members of the opposition demanded that he retract his statement, Kroizer clarified: “No one should interpret my words that I agree with taking the law into one’s own hands. I said that for a month and a half, there have been unrestrained riots here, blocking roads and burning tires. I also expect condemnations of the severe events that happen at your protests.” (YWN Israel Desk – Jerusalem)
