It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the petirah of Rav Chaim Shalom Isaacson zt”l, the Nadvorna Rebbe og Philadelphia, who passed away at the age of 85.
The rebbe was a son of Rav Meir Isaacson, the second Nadvorna Rebbe and the rov of Pokshon, who was known for his Shu”t Mivaser Tov. Rav Meir established his beis medrash in Philadelphia and later moved it to Staten Island, where he led the kehillah until his passing on the 30th of Av in the year 2000. His mother, Rebbetzin Gittel, was a daughter of Rav Isamar of Nadvorna, the Nadvorna Rebbe.
The rebbe‘s paternal grandfather was Rav Shlomo Isaacson, who was a son-in-law of Rav Meir of Kretshnif. They were descendants of Rav Dovid of Roman, brother of Rav Meir of Premishlan.
Following in his father’s footsteps, the rebbe became the leader of his father’s beis medrash in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he continued to guide the kehillah with dedication and chochmah.
Tuesday evening, during the lighting of the Chanukah menorah of the Clevelander Rebbe in Raanana, the Clevelander Rebbe’s mother, the rebbetzin, was informed of the passing of her brother, the Nadvorna Rebbe of Philadelphia.
The levayah will take place today at 11:00 AM, from Bais Medrash Beis Shlomo in Philadelphia. The rebbe will be buried in the United States.
