Dear Frum Doctors,
Let me begin by thanking you for your outstanding service to the community during this difficult time. Your devotion and Misirus Nefesh towards your patients is an inspiration and an immeasurable Zchus for you and your families. Indeed, in normal times there would be no need for a non-medical professional like myself to address you on medical issues. However, these are not normal times and as Covid 19 continues to wreak havoc on the world at large, and our communities in particular.
I feel the need to address you with a personal plea As you are well aware, the drug hydroxychloroquine has been widely cited as a potential cure for Coronavirus. closer to home, a potential game changing and life saving formula involving hydroxychloroquine has been developed by 1 of our own, Dr Zev Zelenko from Kiryas Yoel.
Known now as the Zelenko protocol, it calls for a twice daily low dosage of hydroxychloroquine to be prescribed along with azithromycin, and the final component, the nutrient zinc, over a 5 day period. The results have been astonishing. Of the over 450 patients given the formula, only 2 have (tragically) died. 8 total patients have been hospitalized with 4 of them placed on respirators. The 8 hospitalized patients are now well on their way to recovery and none are on respirators anymore. Of these patients, all have all since been taken off and are well on their way to recovery. [Matzav.com] Statistically, this is an over 90% success rate, and its no coincidence that Kiryas Yoel has BH suffered the least mortality rate from any major frum community in the tristate area.
Doctors across the country and across the world have been eagerly adopting the Zelkenko method in use with their own patients and have been meeting tremendous success. There is a crucial caveat though. The Zelenko protocol has only been proven to work when given in the initial stage of the virus, before a person becomes seriously ill and requires hospitalization. It is during this initial period, where Dr. Zelenko, and his colleagues all over have been successful. Once a patient is taken to the hospital and develops respiratory illness, his chances of survival, even when on this formula, are greatly reduced. [Matzav.com]
Thankfully, The Protocol is now being used by thousands of doctors across the country, who are likewise seeing great progress in their patients’ recovery. There is however, one community of doctors which unfortunately has been very reluctant in providing this life saving formula. That is our very own Frum doctors! The terrible death rate our community has suffered can be very well linked to this travesty.
In a recent letter published by all of Lakewood’s doctors they wrote: ¨Hydroxychloroquine has not been proven to be a magic cure.¨
With all due respect, if 90%+ success rate is not a magic cure, then what in heaven’s name is? The question is begged to ask of our esteemed doctors? [Matzav.com]

Why are so many hundreds and thousands of frum patients crowding the hospitals, hundreds of deaths, RL, when a simple $20 cocktail of drugs has been anecdotally proven to help cure this disease?
Why are sending patients to hospitals to be put on respirators and die when there is a relatively simple cure out there available? [Matzav.com]
I often wonder how the different our world would have looked had the Jewish leaders during WW2 in this country stood up to demand more action against the Nazi Holocaust. We are now confronted with a miniature Holocaust right here on these shores. Will those who can make a difference step up to the plate? Or will this be another instance of powerful Jews, this time the doctors, shy away in intimidation, scared to take a stand to save the lives of their brothers and sisters?
It is not too late to reverse course. All it takes is a bit of courage and responsibility, and countless lives can still be saved!!
