It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of R’ Avrohom Moshe Melohn z”l. He was in his sixties.
R’ Avrohom was a son of Joseph and Martha Melon, whose names resonate strongly in the community due to their remarkable acts of philanthropy.
R’ Avrohom Melohn z”l followed in his parents’ footsteps, earning a reputation for having a heart filled with compassion. Those who knew him attested to his incredible generosity, quietly contributing millions of dollars to charitable causes without seeking recognition.
The Melon family holds a position of prominence within the West Side community, and R’ Avrohom played a significant role in that regard. For decades he davened at the Boyaner Kloiz and actively supported the West Side Community Kollel.
In recent years, R’ Avrohom relocated to the Forshay area of Monsey, where he became an integral part of the community, davening at Kehillas Bais Avraham. Once again, he assumed a vital role within the community, supporting the local mikvah and generously donating to Hatzolah and other organizations.
Today, tragedy struck as he suffered a massive heart attack.
The levayah is taking place now at Yeshiva Or Somayach, located at 244 Route 306 in Monsey, NY. The aron will then be flown to Eretz Yisroel for kevurah there.
Yehi zichro boruch.
